when you step near, you would find ... ...a big squar ground is in front of the main building, with plants. walking through the road, and paths, the back of the main building is just getting in eyes little by little. you may be confused if it is a conner of woods. so many different green colors rush into ur eyes, and cannot see the woods as a whole.
in summer, you could not find a better cool place in beijing except the parks and tour places. trees here are high or low with ... more

when you step near, you would find it is wide, step in the yard, yes, very wide. a big squar ground is in front of the main building, with plants. walking through the road, and paths, the back of the main building is just getting in eyes little by little. you may be confused if it is a conner of woods. so many different green colors rush into ur eyes, and cannot see the woods as a whole.
in summer, you could not find a better cool place in beijing except the parks and tour places. trees here are high or low with different shapes, they covers half of the sky, and greep or any other soft plants dancing on the small paths and cover another part of sky. sunshine passes through the leaves paints the ground with small silver stars.
it is just wonderful!
i think this hotel belongs to the government before, not sure now, but lots of local governers whom are coming beijing for general party meetings.
2 big universities are very nearby, one is just beside a wall. 3 department stores around, may no more then 15 minuts by feet.
service, of course, same as other high level hotels.
trafic, it is near the Yi He Yuan, the last chinese danesty's gardern, and also some other famous places. but not near the CBD.
Advantages: Large, spacious and airy. Reasonable and friendly. Disadvantages: At night the lights around the hotel are not always on. A little intimidating.
...across the street from the friendship hotel is a Mall where you can find electronics to cosmetics. Behind the mall there is a Starbuck coffee where you can enjoy a soothing frappuccino. There are three main bars in the hotel that are all very reasonably priced. Firstly there is a huge colonial style piano bar, a smaller disco-type bar, and on the top floor there is a very dark and seedy feeling kareoke bar.

Advantages: very clean & comfortable, useful facilities, resonable price Disadvantages: doesnt really give you a chinese experience
I ended up staying here through an organised tour but i dont think we were treated any differently to independant travelrs. I think the hotel is good - four buildings on one site so it can be a little confusing getting to breakfast! - clean & comfy with all the things you need in your room, friendly staff although we did ask if they would post some cards for us (as i would in any hotel) & they were happy to do so - BUT none of the 8 cards ever made ... ...bars on site (georges (or harry, some english guy anyway) - which was very dear and a TGI fridays which did grate with me as its not typically chinese but the prices are better than georges & I prefered the atmosphere (& the super-size-me cocktails!). The location of the hotel isnt that great as there didnt seem to be much of interest near by - although i think thats how beijing is, a bit sprawly with no real centre or heart (go to xian instead!). ...
