Mostly this place to me and my friends is the place to be on a thursday night, well after we've been to enigma for free drinks (how good it is to be staff!)

FUBAR, is the club in stirling that when i said i was going to be at uni there my mate frank (40) said i remember that place, we used to get the train down from Oban (about a 3 hour journey) for a night out. FUBAR, City (Perth) and Sportsters are owned by the same company, and last year City was voted best club in Scotland (or so my flatmate keeps telling me). Sportsters is a bar near Enigma on the corner where the PR's for both clubs hang out, if you want a laugh watch them argueing!

Mostly this place to me and my friends is the place to be on a thursday night, well after we've been to enigma for free drinks (how good it is to be staff!) FUBAR, is the club in stirling that when i said i was going to be at uni there my mate frank (40) said i remember that place, we used to get the train down from Oban (about a 3 hour journey) for a night out. So with that recommendation i set off for uni. Well on first impressions i liked the place, the floors were suitably sticky, the staff the usual nightclub assortment and the music well downstairs was cheese and upstairs was everything else. Great, Then i discovered the place has so many steps all over the damn place especailly upstairs, try walkin around half pissed in heels and then fall over every ten steps or so because there was a step you missed. No big deal really id fall over anyway, but when youre doing it sober then i have a problem with it! But that was last year after a major refubishment the steps upstairs have been mostly taken out, leaving just afew leading to and from the dance floor, also the carpets have gone, reducing the liklihood of you losing your shoe to the floor. On thursdays it can be packed out as students congregate to beging the traditonal weekend hangover. Drink deals on a thursday were £1.50 for bottles of VK and possibly other stuff but for a vodka and coke with a shot of apple sourz its likely to cost you around £4, which when compared to Enigma where entry is £3 and drinks £1 (for the ones mentioned anyway) it seems abit steep. Entry costs about £5 for a student. One huge thing that i dislike about this place is that despite the front door being next to the taxi rank when you leave you have to go out the back passed the train station, although at this point there is the only late night food place in stirling, the traditional greasy spoon van is parked up at the exit. All in all i do like the place but my nights off work are too precious to spend in a rival club, when i have to sleep/meet mates/do coursework (really didnt think this was important but apparently it is) FUBAR, City (Perth) and Sportsters are owned by the same company, and last year City was voted best club in Scotland (or so my flatmate keeps telling me). Sportsters is a bar near Enigma on the corner where the PR's for both clubs hang out, if you want a laugh watch them argueing!
One quick note it has been a while since i was there and i will update the review with details of other nights and deals when i get chance to go back there in the coming weeks
Advantages: cheap nights **now closed for refurbishment** Disadvantages: Its usually dead
The club has finally closed its doors for the last time, the refurbishment we are told will begin in 2 weeks time and take around 10 weeks meaning the shiny new club will reopen around the time of the students midsemester break. This is something that anyone who knows the club will agree is long over due, and I wish the new manager(whoever that might be) and their new bar team all the best for the future, as currently I have no plans to return to work at this venue, although I will be returning as a guest to see the new venue.
Stirling small city with a large student population, but has only four night clubs, two in the city centre, Enigma and Fubar (which lives up to its name), one near the uni campus The Beat and one in the student union Glow. So students are limited in their clubbing options. So in stirling has evolved a club ...
