Here´s my top-list of sights you can explore around the Gendarmenmarkt just by foot:
Galleries Lafayette (a museum)
Reichstagsgebäude
Brandenburger Tor/ Unter den Linden
Funkturm (get up there for a view)
Potsdamer Platz
Checkpoint Charly
Zoologischer Garten (zoo)
Botanischer Garten (botanical garden)
The distance to Tegel airport is only
15 km / 30 mls , and you need about 20 minutes in a taxi which will cost you around 20 Euros.
And you´re central in the middle of the town!
As you can see...I enjoyed it.
More about Berlin the next few days....

You have got the opportunity to visit the castle "Charlottenburg", the german and france Dom, the "Brandenburger Tor", the "Funkturm" or the "Olympiastation".

In the winter it can be very cold, last night it was minus 20 degree, but it can also be, that we have over 10 degree. This winter I have not seen a lot of snee. But I have heard, that in Great Britain the weather is nocht very good, that it is often raining.

Their flat was small so we stayed with Tante Rainer in a large house in the suburbs, if Berlin can be said to have such a concept. I spent a fortnight in school. The only photograph of myself I’ve ever really liked was taken on top of the Funkturm. Saw Barclay James Harvest ‘Rock vor dem Reichstag’ and came across the wonderful German band ‘Wednesday’. The first time I had a gun pointed ...
