low-cost in Brazil
Review of Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA by
traveller55
Advantages: *****
Disadvantages: -
...GOL is a Brazilian low-cost airlines that has 37 destinations within Brazil and Buenos Ayres in the nearby Argentina.
Operations started in 2001 with a fleet of Boeing 737/700. During the next few months the fleet will see the arrival of some 737/800 Next Generation.
The aircrafts are with a single layout of economy class with 3+3 seats covered with fabric (the best solutions according to the local weather and humidity; and of course better that the ones leather covered of Varig).
All aircrafts are brand new and the cabin and seats are in pristine conditions. Every two rows a small monitor fall down from the ceiling (on such monitor you can follow-up the route of your flight as well as watch some TV program or short movies).
The cabin crew is kind, efficient and knows how to deal with their job. The only drawback is the language...

Epicuraean travels
Review of Burgenland (Austria) by
herbb
Advantages: nice lake- and countryside
Disadvantages: none
...From our Capital Vienna take Motorway A4 eastbound, or - if you happen to arrive by plane, you are already on your way to Budapest when leaving the airport, thus avoiding to have to pass through town. If you fly in from Stansted (Ryanair) to Graz (capital of the province of Styria) for a mere Euro 49, you will have a 200 km trip northeast and the chance to cover Burgenland from toe to top on federal road B50.
This easternmost corner of Austrias youngest province, the Burgenland (land of castles), is where we´re heading, to be more specific: the "Seewinkel", which is the area east of Austrias biggest lake, the "Neusiedlersee", shared between two neighbours, the other being Hungary, who calls the lake "Fertö".
It is only a 30 minutes drive until you reach exit "Weiden-Gols", where you leave the A4, heading south to Podersdorf...

Calcutta - not for the faint-hearted
Review of Calcutta (India) by
raylax
Advantages: The cities outskirts are beautiful, cheap to travel
Disadvantages: pollution, electricity failures, language barrier
...there will be. Accommodation in a high-storey flat is recommended, but for temporary vacation, missions such as the Ramkrishna mission in Gol Park are ideal bases for tourists. Next problem you will face is the load-shedding where electricity generators will turn off for several hours during the day which can be a problem at night and when it is hot and you require the ceiling fans to work. Another problenm is pollution. The city is an asthmatics hell. Places to visit include Nicco Park and the Victoria memorial but really the reason for going there should not be to see what the cities sights are, but the entire city itself. The people are very friendly. But if you can last 2 weeks without TV, quality radio, decent conversation (due to language barrier)and all the other problems, i will be very much impressed....
