I am going to explain my experience in Galle. I went on a trip to Galle with my friends. We took "Ruhunu Kumari" train. It was operated through the coastal area. Scenery was so beautiful and we enjoyed very much.The beaches are very beautiful. There were few tourists in the train. You have to realize how beautiful Galle is. You can see fishermen sitting on sticks fishing in the see along the south coast. It is a strange technique of fishing. Nobody knows how this technique originated from. It works as the stilts are attractive sceneries. You can catch a glimpse of the famouse stilt fishermen in the down south. You are lucky as such a sight is nowhere to be found in Sri Lanka. Review of Galle (Sri Lanka)

Loads of grace at the old Galle Face

Advantages: colonial splendour, a very welcome retreat from a dirty old town
Disadvantages: Don't be absurd!

Colombo City is a deranged, dusty, frenetic type of place where large brown cows wander self righteously down the main roads seemingly oblivious to the crazed over stuffed buses and insane tuk-tuk drivers that cross their paths;(while in Sri Lanka I noted with some amusement that while traffic will screech to a halt and patiently wait for cows, dogs and the delightful, lazy monitor lizards to amble at their own pace across the roads, humans receive none of this polite conduct and have to take their own lives in their hands)..............the humidity is breathtaking, like being suffocated by a warm, wet towel, but fear not respite can be had in the form of the grand old colonial hotel "Galle Face". Review of Galle Face Hotel

Genoa cake...go on have a slice!!!

Advantages: A great starting place to see Italy.
Disadvantages: Forgot them as fast as I found them!

I travelled the across Italy for 4 weeks in summer 2002. Genoa is the city we flew in to, it cost me £5 to fly to Genoa on EasyJet (hard to believe I know!). The aproach by plane is stunning the airport is right on the harbour so as you fly in you see the whole city. On arrival we caught a taxi , which was a reasonable price to the youth hostel, the city is a bus or taxi journey from the airport. The youth hostel at Genoa is probably on the highest hill in the city. For weary feet it is best to catch one of the buses up the hill, but from the top the view is breathtaking, you can see the city and the sea. The youth hostel is very clean, quite big and very friendly, the staff here are very helpful. The nicest thing about this hostel is the chance to sit at night and watch the view as the city winds down or if you get up early ...
