Garfunkels, The Strand, London

Advantages: erm....are there any?
Disadvantages: very basic food, rude staff, small portions, don't go if there are lots of you.

Everyone from our work was treated to go and see a show in London by our boss for Christmas. We decided to eat at Garfunkels in the Strand before going to see my Fair Lady (which was brilliant!). As there was a large number of people going -our group was made up of 17 of us we had copies of the menus sent to us and decided to fax our order through from work. We thought this was a good idea as we had be be out by a certain time to get to the theatre. ...
...wanted to eat and had faxed our orders to sent the order to another branch. Why? We have no idea. We came to the day before and we rang to confirm that they had reserved our table and got our order right. Well this again was wrong and after some wasted time, lots of confusion, speaking to various members of staff and having to speak to the manager we eventually had our details confirmed. Disadvantages: Small portions, not cheap for what you get

Me and a friend were out shopping in London for the day and were very hungry, and the menu displayed outisde looked promising. It offers quite a range of food and I should think most people will be hard pushed not to find something they like. We didn't think the prices were cheap, but then this was London so what can you expect. Once inside the staff came across helpful. I think they were all foreign and holding a full conversation with any of them ...

Advantages: Good locations
Disadvantages: Hot puddings served cold

Normally the experience is reasonable, but the last two (and possibly last) visits were less than satisfactory. At Northumberland Avenue last April, whilst the atmosphere was good, my "traditional hot english" apple & blackberry crumble was served hot on the outside, cold on the inside. Visiting the Strand branch today, things seemed to have got worse for the following reasons: - I asked if there was a coat stand for my wet coat and was told no, ...
...- the chair itself bore evidence of dried wine and food stains - on ordering my favourite crumble, I mentioned my Northumberland Avenue experience and asked for confirmation that hot actually meant hot.
