I do love this theatre, and since I've only been once so far, that's a good recommendation. The play I saw was 'This is our Youth' by Kenneth Lonnergan and it was on a few weeks ago. The cast was Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix. The play was average, and now for the theatre...

The security is not very good! Your ticket is taken and you go forward into a cosy room where you can buy drinks and so on (all overpriced, but that's normal for London). The area is lit very well and there are some seats. This same area is used during the intermission, if that's the right term.

SEATING
Very good, and comfortable seats, a bit low, but lots of leg room (I am quite tall). Clean, but a bit creaky if you fidget too much, I could see that easily becoming a problem.
TOILETS
Men's toilets were clean and decent and easily, yet oddly, located on the side of the stairs leading to the stage.
THE STAGE
Big enough, and sound effects (of passing trains) were very effective surrounding the entire audience.

The range of offers has (and will) included the following:
? Two for the price of One.
? Best Available seats for a reduced price.
At the moment there is an offer to see the play ?Wait Until Dark? at the GarrickTheatre in London where the seats have been reduced to £17.50. If you were paying top-price tickets for four of you to go you would expect to pay £150.00 (£37.50 per ticket) without booking fee. With the offer this would be £70.00! And all you have to do is phone the box office and quote something at them.
Well worth a look at!
I went to see Bombay Dreams with an offer of £15.00 of each ticket plus a free glass of champagne at the interval!

From here, you can enter the main galleries, which take you along a few corridors with illuminated display cases featuring various aspects of theatrical history in chronological order from the Tudor Age to English National Opera of the 1990s.
Other cases are devoted to particular Londontheatres, famous actors and families, such as the Redgrave family, David Garrick, and the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, including a model of how it looked before major alterations in 1921.

The Savoy was where most of the Gilbert & Sullivan operas were given their premier performances, and included are a small three-dimensional model of the theatre, a first-night programme for the operetta ‘Iolanthe’ of 25 November 1882, and if you listen carefully, selections from G & S playing softly in the background. In another case, I was fascinated to see a poster for the British premiere of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ in December 1879 – not in London, but at a theatre in Paignton, not far from where I live.
