Advantages: Deliciously Cheesy, Perfect for Cold Nights! Disadvantages: Can be hard to source...
whilst it melts, although purists no doubt balk at this. Serve Raclette with a very light, dry white wine to offset the richness of all that cheese; I'd suggest an Alsace Riesling, or better still, one from the Valais-Wallis region.
My own favourite recipe involving Raclette is far simpler, however. In truth, it is scarcely a recipe at all, more what my husband somewhat ungraciously refers to as glorified cheese on toast! I owe it to a little Gasthof, the name of which sadly alludes me, in a charming medieval town called Baden, which is about 15 minutes west of Zurich. The chef there, quaintly enough, referred to this as his 'Toast Hawaii', presumably by virtue of the fact that it has a slice of pineapple on it. It is quite simply a nice, thick slice of the best bread you can get, preferably a light rye. Spread with Dijon mustard, top ...

Advantages: Great scenery in the summer Disadvantages: A long way by coach
lakes, with beutifull green waters and surrounded by mountains the town of Petisau really is a quiet little town in the hills. try to take the boat trip around the lake for around 12 euros each.
Kirchberg.
Here you get the chance to see the tradditional Tyrolean Dancers. these are great shows full of humour and audience participation and last around 2hrs with lots of thigh slapping and footstamping. A real must see attraction, this one is the top show in the Tyrol.cost around 7 euros each.full bar facilities available.
Hotels
All hotels in general are very good and only differ very slightly, they are all clean and offer great food. Do try the Goulash soup and a roll, its fantastic.
As for travel, there are companys offering coach trips all over britain, and prices can be as little as £149 each for a 7 day trip. ...
Advantages: Fantastic scenery, good transport links, not too expensive - if you know where to go... Disadvantages: Too tourist-oriented, expensive shops
we stayed at the Gasthof Hasslesberger (very close to the cablecar station at the bottom of the Hahnenkamm), which I would give 5 stars any day - it was superb in every way. We normally go for family-run 2/3 star establishments (we tend to go through Inghams, which we have found far better than Thompson, Chrystal, and Enterprise, the other tour operators that we've been to Austria with), and these normally provide just the right level of quality, inexpensiveness, and unobtrusiveness. (Ingham's reps tend to be less pushy than most too, but are there when you need them.)
If you want to go on a hiking / rambling holiday, Kitzbühel is perfect due to the wonderful surroundings and plentiful chair lifts etc if you find yourself suddenly too tired to walk down the mountain you've just climbed up. Obviously a good map is useful ...
