A dramatic concrete gateway

Advantages: Wide ranging styles of Theatrical productions.
Disadvantages: Concrete 60's Architecture

...the Town Hall is the Gateway theatre, a product of the 1960s concrete architectural movement.

The Theatre isn’t very pretty to look at nor is it grand or luxurious inside but it is friendly, welcoming and stages a wide range of theatrical performances.

The Theatre can be accessed by walking through the Forum shopping centre or via a set of stairs situated at the corner of Trinity Street and Hamilton Place. The theatre ...
...a Youth Theatre Group called Gateway Live who put on regular productions throughout the year.

Information on performances is provided in clear easy-to-read glossy leaflets, a small brochure and via a well designed website (www.chestergateway.co.uk). The brochure is also available in large print or audio tape if required.

A Cestrian's View of Chester

Advantages: Rich in history, lots to do rain or shine
Disadvantages: Expensive parking, busy in high season

CHESTER ZOO = Although situated just outside the town centre, Chester Zoo is one of the most refined zoos in the country, and concentrates mainly on conservation and the breeding of endangered species, rather than just being a tourist attraction. There is a monorail, a water bus and café which is an essential part of your visit because the zoo is so large, it will take a few hours to see everything. There are over 7000 animals and 500 species so you really need a full day. CHESTER CATHEDRAL = Situated right in the centre of the town, Chester Cathedral is an exquisite site with its stained glass windows and cloisters.
