There are many things to do once there. You can take a boat ride around the site which lasts for approximately 45 minutes. For people not too fond of the water, they can take a horse and carriage ride around the location. If you want to capture your memory of the excursion, there are many photographers who take family pictures for a very reasonable price and you can even get them mailed to wherever youre staying. The price is also brilliant as everything is cheap.
The only bad thing i would say is that because so many people go there, it can get very crowded sometimes which makes it hard for people to use facilities such as go on boat rides or the horse and carriage. Also, there are some beggars but only a small proportion compared to the rest of the city.
People will love this attraction if they like holidaying in an authentic culture which is buzzing.
Advantages: Great historic site to see Disadvantages: To many people there at a time
The Gateway of India is a fabulous site to see. When I was there I was able to walk all the way around the gateway but on previous visits I have only looked though the car because there are crowds of people if go at the wrong times. When I went I was able to look around the long sea front with out any hassle or trouble. There are also places where u can sit along the sea front and looking into the far distance u can see many ships and ferries. The ... ...Hotel. At the Gateway u can have a family picture, this area is scattered by photographers and they are willing to make u a family photo for a very cheap price. On one side of the Gateway you can take a boat ride which will take u around the sea front then back around. This roughly lasts for about 45minutes it is also very cheap. But don't stop there walking along the sea front u will sea many people selling mouth watering freshly cooked food. This ...

Advantages: Classic Tourist Site Disadvantages: A lot of beggars and hawkers
If you are staying in the area, drop by and have a look, take some photos and soak up the atmosphere. If you are feeling flush and can deal with the juxtaposition of filfth and finery, posh and poverty, then drop into the Taj Hotel and get an expensive afternoon tea and look at the Arch out of the windows or take a stroll up the road to the government craft emporium.
But if you aren't staying nearby, would you sit in a taxi for an hour and a half ... ...by the airport) just to get there - probably not. The India Gate in Delhi - similar style, another one you can happily snap out the window of your coach. Call me a philistine but there's a touch of 'Arc de Triomph' about the lot of them. As India's great attractions go, this is one I can take or leave. There's such a lot that you really MUST see and the Gate of India is no Taj Mahal - in this case, I mean the eternal monument to love and not the ...

Advantages: A magical city of contrasts, that is coping inspite of all odds Disadvantages: There are many
the financial capital, and the biggest metropolitan and celluloid capital of India. The Gateway of India , used to be the arrival point for visitors from the west. Today the Gateway of India is synonymous with Bombay. It is a landmark of Bombay , a must visit spot of the city. But, now since 26/11, 2008 it holds bitter and sad memories for all Indians. It was the entry point for the Pakistani terrorists who played havoc with the city taking siege of the Majestic Taj Mahal Hotel , The Oberoi and the entire surrounding area and killing hundreds of innocent people, many of them foreign tourists who were visiting India. This is an event that can never be forgotten or forgiven by any Indian .. People came together during this time of crisis, flocking to the hospitals to donate blood, and thousands offered strangers bed to sleep in, as the entire city was ...
Advantages: culturally exciting and varied, cheap Disadvantages: lots of harassment
was certainly a life changing experience and one that I would definitely recommend.
I found Delhi very difficult, crowded ,chaotic and confusing and only began to feel confident there on my third visit whereas Bombay was much easier and more familiar. With hindsight I would have been better off flying into Bombay which was a very attractive place with a hostel very near the Gateway of India.I soon learned that tasks such as posting a parcel have to be done in a very specific way-lots of weighing, brown paper and string -and could take an entire day to accomplish so it was very good for patience building skills.I also spent more in the first month than I did in the subsequent four or five months as I was ripped off so much.Being used to a fixed price economy the haggling idea took me a while to adjust to.The most useful thing I did apart ...
