This place isn't anywhere London but I thought I would give it a review anyway! Tonight my friend Barry and me decided to go and have a look in the local gay/bi/lesbian pub which is situated near Colchester, Essex. This is the first time I've ever been to something like this and I just knew I had to go and experience the whole gay scene and it would be great to be in a pub with aload of people who had the same feelings as you.
I was a little nervous at first as we arrived at the pub, I was very susprised at how lovely the place looked, it looked like a little cottage and looked really nice from the outside, once we got in it wasn't very busy, it opens at 8pm and goes on until about 2am. As soon as I was in I felt very comfortable straight away and the place seemed to be really relaxing. Barry and me sat down with a drink and it was amazing to see how many people were walking through the door, there were alot of men, probably more there then us girls...which isn't good! :).
Inside it's really cosy and everyone seems really friendly, when people passed me they would smile or say hello and I was really impressed with that, it made me feel even more relaxing then before. We then decided to go into the dance room, where you have a huge speaker and a DJ playing recent dance hits and remixes, etc. It was a really good atmospehere but I was in too much of a awe to dance or anything, I just couldn't belive at how many people were there. At one point these 2 girls were dancing and stipping off so you do get your typical jokers who don't seem to care what they are doing, I thought that was really funny and it really opened my eyes!!
I really recommend to any gay/bi/curious people to go check out this pub when your in the essex area, belive me, you have nothing to be shy or nervous about, once you get in everything feels excellent, great atmosphere and vibe and it's defintly a great night out and great to meet other people that feel the same as you about alot of things, I don't think I will be able to stay away from the place now.

Quick review of Gay/Lesbian London
I found a really good website that lists good lesbian bars and clubs at www.girlguidelondon.co.uk. They had quite a good list as well as the addresses of the venues which helped me when trying to find some bars. ...

Advantages: Absolutely huge, wide variety of venues, people generally friendly, locals extremely tolerant of L/G people Disadvantages: Can be hard to find a 'gay village', bars quite spread out, extortionate at weekend
As a student in London, I find I can't afford to go out much as everywhere is so expensive. However, I have found quite a few places that are cheap, as long as you can go out through the week (which most students and tourists can!)
The cheapest bars are G-A-Y on Old Compton street, which has a £1.60 menu Sun-Thurs evenings. Also Village offers jugs of cocktails for £8 all night Mon and before 8 other weekdays. Admiral Duncan, again on Old Compton ... ...KU bar on Charing Cross road has good deals, and so does Kudos which is just off the Strand.
Cheap clubs are Heaven, which on Mondays is free if you pick up a flyer from one of the bars such as KU bar or Kudos, and all drinks £2. G-A-Y is cheap too, its next to Tottenham Court Road tube and thats on Monday, Thursday and Friday (Saturdays are extortionate!)
Ghetto, which is down the alley next to G-A-Y is open 7 nights a week and is amazingly cheap, ...

Advantages: Lesbian scene alive and kicking in London Disadvantages: It will take you a good month to check out all that is on offer!
Lesbians and bisexual women visiting London are in for a treat. London has a vibrant and varied gay scene, well endowed with clubs, bars and events which cater for the gay woman. Of course, if you are visiting and don't know where to start, it could seem very underground and hard to find. Fortunately, there are some useful publications around which will provide a starting point. Time Out has a gay section available in all newsagents. Pink Paper, ... ...can pick up from most gay venues such as First Out Cafe (52 St Giles High Street near Tottenham Court Road tube)or Silver Moon Womens Bookshop (Charing Cross Road, near Leicester Square tube). Advantages: so much to see Disadvantages: so much time needed
. The Tate modern is also very popular big a must see. The British Museum is a giant one full of the world's treasures. Theatres cost £35 for a good seat Cinema £10 to see latest films. There are also restaurants every where café and fast food joints of all kinds.
The central areas are full of rich well behaved people the poor live out side Brixton is very rough. Every where in London there are drug addicts even in the Central areas. Other areas of interest are Camden Town it has a market and Hampstead Heath for gay men and families is near by to Camden.
There are lots of gays in London and Lesbians it is very friendly for them.
The City is an area of one square mile full of banks and financial houses. It also has 30+ churches to see and the Barbican centre an arts place for Opera. There are other opera and ballet dancing ...
Advantages: Great sound system, fun crowd Disadvantages: Can be pricey some nights
Heaven is a clubbing institution - with a great sound and lighting system and some fine gay nights. Until a year or two back, it was looking decidely shabby but a revamp gave it a smarter image at a time of increasing competition. There is a main floor and smaller rooms offering alternative sounds. Monday is Popcorn - a cheap night out for gays and lesbians with reduced priced drinks, a commercial music policy and a young crowd. The best night is Wednesday's Fruit Machine, which attracts Londoners, tourists, drag queens and a smattering of straights. The music policy is harder - much more to my liking. Friday's is There, another harder night but with a much more mixed crowd, while Saturday's legendary Heaven night is mostly male and full-on. Heaven is known the world over so expect an international crowd on whatever night you go. It also ...
Advantages: Huge, Top PA's Disadvantages: Dangerous + Dirty
G-A-Y is held in the Astoria in Central London and its one of the biggest gay and lesbian club in the UK. The Astoria was a theater but all the seats have been removed and its turned into a great club. With regular PA's on Saturday nights with ticket prices around £10 its a bargain to see all of your favorite acts! So far I have seen about 40 different acts which includes Boyzone, Vengaboys, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Sash, Steps, S Club 7, Ruby Wax and more! The club is for everyone gay and its a happy environment where everyone is relaxed and out to have a good time. Straight people are welcome but not in a large group, entry is allowed if with a gay friend. But banned if you are in a large group of straight people, sorry. G-A-Y operates other nights with a range of music from 70's, 80's, and early 90's. Have a look at G-A-Y ...
