Advantages: A modern comfortable hotel in an ancient shell

...about just walking into any hotel and booking it for a night. The main reason being that my mother-in-law is fussy and doesn't like the thought of sleeping in a bed that someone else has slept in. ...Krolewski was simply because the hotel was situated on the waterfront and as my mother in law has lived on a boat and near the sea for a very long time I thought she would like the views of boats and just to be near water. I also liked the stone warehouse look of the exterior. I could see that this was an old building that had been restored in a very sympathetic way - I sensed the feeling of old meeting the new. Nice and Cheap Hotel

Advantages: very cheap and tidy hotel
Disadvantages: none

...cheapest option in Gdansk but Novotel is much better located that the Holiday Inn or Mercure - there is a big difference between the "old town" and the "centre". The old town is unattractive communist era buildings: the centre is almost totally reconstructed in the old style and reminiscent of the Amsterdam buildings. Choose centre over old town in this case! Airport access to Novotel should be by taxi because of its location but this only costs ...

Advantages: Lovely rooms
Disadvantages: Dining is hit or miss

We booked three rooms for the 6th-9th of March 2008, and were generally satisfied. On entering the foyer we were disappointed to see so many people smoking (a conference) because we had thought it was a non-smoking hotel. However, our rooms were fresh-smelling and smoke-free, and apart from the cleaning staff smoking in a cupboard we encountered no more smoke. ...spotlessly clean. The bathrooms, also sparkling clean, had showers instead of baths, but the water pressure was good and there was room to move about. A small cake of soap, and a phial each of shampoo and shower gel were provided. Bed linen fresh and crisp. Bed large and comfortable. Breakfast offers great choice, but the hot food was lukewarm. Advantages: Beautiful hotel in fabulous surroundings
Disadvantages: Far from the centre of Gdansk...transport required

Our rooms were v comfortable, with a rushing stream beneath the window. Picturesque thatched roof. It was magical to be wakened in the morning with the gurgling of the water and the sounds of the gardeners sweeping up the leaves. Lovely inside pool. Meals were v high quality...breakfast was lavish; dinner was almost theatrical because the waiters served as a team and with a flourish; room service was excellent. Fillet steak worked out about £15...bargain! ...
...spoke good English. It's set in the woods...you could almost expect to see Little Red Riding Hood trotting along to Grandma's house.
