The easiest way to view Bohol Island is to hire an Air Conditioning L500 Taxi, which includes the driver and a full tank of fuel. The prices ranges from two thousand to three thousand pesos per vehicle, and can seat up to eight passengers. You will find these available mainly from ports of seacrafts arriving from other Island in the Philippines.

Our experience started from Ubay around eleven o'clock in the morning, arriving from Bato in Leyte on a Bancas boat journey of approximately two hours, by hiring an L500 Air Conditioning Hyundia People's Carrier. There are plenty of Pantalon Pier restaurants to choose from of Filipino cuisines and are very reasonable in prices. We had two plates of fried chicken and two large plates of rice for about seventy pesos between four adults and two children. The children ages of my daughter was three and a half years old and my son only three months old, so the food was plenty to fill us up for the journey around Bohol Island. It is adviserable to have Distilled Water from the the secured bottles, than to drink the local water as it can give a lot of upset stomachs and causes diarrhoea.
You simply tell the driver the places of interest you wish to visit and they will also include the coastal scenic route.

To get to Carmen for Chocolate Hills, you have to pass through Trinidad going anti- clockwise from Ubay taking approximately fifty minutes to drive. You will know once you arrived at Choclate Hills as the climate is very hot and humid and the smell of coco through the vents in the vehicle. The driver will stay with the vehicle allowing you to walk the 213 steps to the top observation platform for a breath taking, viewing the magnificently landscape cones of brown seared hemispheric hills, 20 to 50 metres in height, that is known for "Chocolate Hills." Approximately 1,268 "Chocolate Hills", grew up from corals, and it is known that two were 'stolen by men', carrying away sand and gravel for road repair in Carmen. Then, another of the hills wer fount partly "eaten" of fed, rather to concrete producing machines. In 1988, the Chocolate Hills was declared as a National Geological Monument.
As the temperatures are tropical, you will find a lot of Palm and banana trees. You will only need to spend approximately fourty five minutes at the park as there is not much else to see and do. A multi flavour pineapple and mango ice cream is a refreshing treat at the park costing about twenty pesos each.

We travelled south towards Loboc, but stopping briefly at Corella to see the "Tarsier Sanctuary", popular with tourists, to view the world's smallest primate, known as monkies, with big blue eyes and a long tail.

We continued to briefly to stop at Baclayon, six kilometers southeast from Tagbilaran, to view the oldest church in the Philippines, which Jesuit-built the Baclayon Stone Church in 1595, which hosts a Baclayon Museum. There is also the Blood Compact Site, a few Kilometres along the coast. It was around three thirty when we arrived at Tagbilaran City, which is not very big, but has a large department store with underground parking facilities and a Mcdonalds retaurant. There is not much to see and do in Tagbilaran City, so a few hours is about right to spend in the department store.

We spent the evening on Panglao Island staying at the Lost Horizon Beach Resorts, costing around one thousand pesos per room. The beach resort is located on to the white fine sand and the clear blue ocean. It is nice to relax, but is not recommended if your have children as you are approximately thirty minutes drive from Tagbilaran City. Day boat trips with the local fisherman can be negotiated for dolphin watching, which is seen approximately two hours boat ride out to sea. There are several Beach Resorts available on the Island offering accommodation from five hundred to five thousands pesos per room, from bamboo huts to concrete buildings with palm trees, some pubs with karaokes and open restaurants. Majority of the beach resorts offer great locations of dive bases.

We spent the second evening at Bohol Tropics Beach Resorts offering ocean views from our cottage style rooms, at one thousand and five hundred pesos, with bathroom/ shower facilities and coffee making facilities. There are three swimming pools offering views to the ocean and attractive gardens and an entertaining ballroom disco in the evenings.

You will only need a short time to visit Bohol Island as the main attraction is Bohol Chocolate Hills. So a day can be possible with regular boat crossing from Cebu City on Supercat and other ferry companies.
