My roommate and I went on a fantastic tour of Rio, Salvador, the Amazon and Iguassu Falls! The best part was definitely the Amazon where we had really nice accommodations (compared to what we expected in the Amazon, especially) and got to play with monkeys! The worst part was when we found out two days before we were supposed to leave that we didn't have a flight home booked. Because we didn't speak Portuguese, it was very difficult for us to get anything accomplished. Our tour company that we booked through (Brazil Nuts) got our messages at the office in the United States but ignored them and would not call us back. The contact for them in Rio didn't fully understand our problem (because of some language issues) and then just stopped responding to us as well. The whole problem with our travel company though just made us aware that we had made a horrible choice in travel agencies. We would still go back to Brazil (maybe skipping Salvador, which was not a place I think is worth visiting twice) -- even with the fiasco at the end to taint the trip! That should tell you that it's a great place, but if you go, choose your company wisely or schedule the trip yourself. (At least you can be sure that you actually care about your arrangements -- Brazil Nuts definitely didn't care about ours.)

More information about the holiday would have been nice, rather than the experience of getting home. Have a read of some other reviews to get an idea of what will get you high ratings. Cheers, Cate.

Not enough information to be considered an opinion.

More More tell me MORE! I am very interested in your trip - what airline didyou fly what hotel, where did you eat? Rio is one of the must see places on my future list and I want to hear more! Let me know if you edit this and leave me a message in my Guestbook, and I will be happy to re-read and rate. Cheers, Zed
