hi, just back from our holiday in sunny beach.this was our second visit to bulgaria, the 1st time we stayed in golden sands, but as there was 8 in our group instead of the usual 4 we thought a bigger resort would give us more scope.we paid £404 each for 2 weeks b/b in the hotel which was 3* rated.1st impressions were not good as the hotel which is in a complex of 3 hotels[hence the tongue twisting name]was drab, but the rooms were clean, with a huge balcony and a good size. There were 2 pools to use,1 was for non~swimmers &kids, and the other a good sized family pool, both of which were clean.Breakfasts were the usual cold meats, cheese, bread and boiled eggs, but as in our last visit we soon found a good choice of places to have a full breakfast for about 7/8 levs which is about £2. The hotel had a nice restaurant with a good choice of dishes & we were happy to eat in on colder, windy nights which were quite frequent, though daytime weather was generally hot &sunny.Theres a huge choice of bars and restaurants to eat in at very cheap prices, the best being the galleon down at the beach which is an old ship.8 of us had starters, mains & 6 desserts,3 full rounds of drinks & 2 bottles of wine. The bill was £81.Astonishing but true.We were very close to Nessebar which is lovely, like going back to the last century with cobbled streets and wooden houses and lovely places to eat.Bulgaria is more commercialised now than on our 1st visit which is to be expected, but is a shame as we liked the fact that it was fairly unspoiled. I think it may change again when Bulgaria joins the European community later on[2006,i think].Theres a good choice of tours & trips and lots of cheap shopping, jeans etc.I would go back again but like this visit we would try another resort as each place we visit seems to have something a little different to the other, and i would happily recommend Bulgaria as a good holiday spot as long as you stick to 3* or above.
