I went to Croatia in July 2008. It is a beautiful country with many places to visit. If you like sunshine, then during the summer months, you will get weeks of the stuff.
I stayed at the Hotel Neptune in Tucepi. Although the hotel was very basic, I found it enough for my needs, as I enjoyed going out and exploring the untouched countryside. I explored the countryside by using the mountain bikes for hire, and the rough terrain is a challenge for the most enthusiastic of cyclists. However, should you want a leisurely ride, then there are a number of public footpaths to do this on.
Although I am not a fan of sandy beaches, I didn't like the sea fronts here, with them being no sand at all, and just rocks and pebbles which make it uncomfortable to sit/lay on for sun bathing.
There is no nightlife in Tucepi, with the only bar I saw open until 11pm. Likewise, there is no shopping facilities in Tucepi, but I enjoyed a pleasant trip to Makarska, which is about a 10 minute drive in a taxi. Taxi driver charged me 80 kunas, which works out about £4.
I recommend Croatia to couples who want a romatic get away, but to stay away from Tucepi, as this is more family orientated.

Advantages: Easily accessible by car from Europe, still value for money, lovely beaches Disadvantages: everytime you tell your friends you've been there you'll have to answer the 'but what about the war?' question :-)
