Pissouri lies inbetween Paphos and Limmasol roughly 20 mins away from Paphos airport. It is very easy to get to as it is on the main Paphos to Limmasol road. Cyprus has everything a tourist of any age could want. For the young and lively there is paphos and ayia napa, these have club and pubs galore they open late and the drink is relatively cheap. In paphos the nightlife can be found on one street and is not in the centre, the taverns on the seafront close early. The cost of food and drink in Cyprus is cheap, and is therefore suitable for a holiday on a budget. The beaches are clean and very inviting. Sunbeds are always available for hire at the cost of 1 cyprus pound each. If your after sightseeing there is numerous options open, car hire is reasonable and is a very good way of exploring the island, I would recommend that people hire a car which has a bigger engine as the steep hills might prove a test for some cars. Petrol is cheap, drive on the same side of the road as the uk, the road system is constantly being upgrading but the road as well marked and signposted, these factors make hiring a car a very attractive option. If hiring a car is not suitable there is a large selection of bus tours on offer for approx 10 cyprus pounds. These are all day and go to all the main attractions and areas. For example to Nicoscia, and The mountains. I would recommend both the trips Nicoscia is very very hot, and very industrial perhaps the most unwelcoming of places on the island. However, the border is a must see. The mountains is a cooler trip which tends to be very welcome and includes a visit to the monestary. These tours are guided. Other trips inlcude, Limassol (has been described as beruit)Larnaca, The kings tombs (paphos) aphrodite rock (paphos to limmasol road) and many more. Cyprus is clean and the people are friendly, making this a good holiday destination. I would recommend visiting some of the samilar villages on the island for example Pissouri which offer a quieter way of life.
The main village of Pissouri lies in the hills well above the pissouri bay. The village life is centered around the village square which has cafes, bars, resturants, local supermarket. On a Wednesday night the village has a cypriot night which is well worth going to locals and tourists mix, buffet food is put on, and their is a show of local dances. The villagers area all friendly and speak good english. The village roads are small and winding and i would recommend a small car. Driving is, however, easy and the road system is always getting upgraded. Pissouri bay is down a very steep winding clift road, it would not be possible to walk this due to the steepness of the road. This is like a village of its owm most holiday homes are near the bay, the hotel in the bay provides water sports and other activities. There are a good selection of bars which serve good quality of food, and drink at very reasonable prices. In the bay area there is a bank which changes travellers cheques and a travel agent which can provide car hire and excursions. I would recommend Pissouri to any traveller young or old who likes a lively base but not the package holidays hotels and apartments.
