So not to confuse you, this isn't the Dominican Republic. It is located between the French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique in the Eastern Caribbean. It's a volcanic island. It's 26 million years old.
The carribbean name for Dominica is Waitikubuli. The most visited attraction in Dominica is it's waterfalls, and the most popular is the twin waterfalls at Trafalgur. It's very beautiful. You can go into the lake that it falls into and stand under the waterfall. Because of the tropical weather, the water isn't that cold.
Also, the world's famous lake, The Boiling Lake can be found in Dominica. To get to the lake, you have to walk a 7 mile trail. It takes roughly 3 hours to walk each way, but it's well worth it. A word of warning, be prepared to get very dirty and wet, as it's very muddy. You of course can't go into the lake, because the waters very hot, but the views are spectacular. There are 365 rivers. Each one unique and very beautiful.
If you like hiking, then Dominica has the best treks. You have Morne Anglais, a huge mountain standing tall at 3,683 feet; Jaco Flats, where you are able to go into the lake for a swim. Roseau Roseau is the capital city. There you can visit the Roseau Museum, a botanical garden and a few markets. If you trek upto the aviary, you're able to the whole view of Roseau, and the blue ocean in the background.
You can also enjoy festivals, carnival and village feasts. The best time to visit, is between January and June because this is the dry season.
The currency is the eastern Caribbean Dollar. The food is delicous, mostly seafood and chicken, and creole style cooking. So, most of it's mixed with bananas and coconuts. One thing to try, would be the coffee, very rich, and addictive.
The delicacy in Dominica is the crapaud, mountain chicken. It's called the mountain chicken but it's actaully a frog and it's either fried or stewed. I would tell you how it tastes, but I could not make myself try it. Sorry. The island is very lively and welcoming. Most of the places are uncrowed and unspoilt.

Sounds like a beautiful island, stewed frog doesn't really get me excited though! A good review, but I'd love to hear more ;@P Maikli
