If you travel to Egypt you shouldn't intend just to enjoy the sunshine but you should use the time to make excursions.
Here are some excitements:
LUXOR:
Luxor is after Theben the second oldest town in Egypt. You can visit the Karnak temple which is the biggest temple in the world. You get an insight in history and you wonder how the Egyptians managed to build such an installation at that time's technique. The pillars of the temple are 14 metres high and the relief on the wall don't seem to be as old as they really are. You can visit a papyrus-shop there where you can buy real papyrus and where they'll tell you how this material is manufactured. After lunch near the Nile I recommend to continue the trip to king's valley. There are 64 pharaos buried. Every year only 12 graves are opened because they want to avoid a decline of the wall painting. If you are lucky you are allowed to see the grave of the famous Tutenchamun. Alas, I was not so lucky. Impressive wasn't only to see a real mummy but also to admire the hard work to build a grave. If you survive heat in the valley you MUST go to the temple of the queen Hatchepsut and this view is hard too describe...
CAIRO:
Cairo (which has 1000 minarets) is the biggest city in Egypt and has approximately 15.000.000 citizens. I recommend a visit to the bazaar where you have to haggle very good. After a visit in the national museum you have the opportunity to view the world-famous pyramids of Gizeh. Above all the Cheops pyramid with a height of 164 metres is a highlight. But also the sphinx, the huge monster with a human head and a lion's body that stands near the pyramids, is very impressive.
HURGHADA:
The see in Hurghada is clean. Not far away from the beach is a coral reef which allows you a tremendous view into the underwater world. When you are at the Red Sea you should by all means dive.
Altogether it was a holiday where you could enjoy the sunshine everywhere (about 35 degrees in August) and it was a holiday where you get the opportunity to experience the legendary culture of this great country!

Advantages: a testament to the genius/talent/skill of the ancient people. Lovely weather Disadvantages: the men are extremely rude, the temples are not given the respect they deserve
