Advantages: Wounderful, nordic country Disadvantages: there are none
Have you ever been to Finland? No? Oh, dear, you don´t know whar you miss! Well, here are some news from Father Chrismas-Land. Finland is not an arctic region, quite the oposite! More than half of Finland lies south of the Arctic Circle. Finland has got more reindeer than people, that´s true. But all of the 5 million Finns are very nice and nearly everybody speaks perfectly English.
In Finland it is cold in winter, but in the south the snow does ... ...the three summer months June, July and August the average temperature in daytime is more than 5 degrees Celsius higher than in the UK.
Finland has mor than 50.000 big lakes and an uncountable number of smaller ones and around nearly every one you can find a summercottage. There is nothing you can compare with swimming in the warm water (up to 23 degrees Celsius), or fishing whatever fish you like. There are a lot of mosquitos in Finland, but you ...

Advantages: Great public transport, clean, relative low crime, safe for single females. Disadvantages: People push alot and dont say sorry, spitting, dark winters.
I am a foreigner living in helsinki, I came to finland as a student and then found work here. I have very mixed views about the country and its people. I have had some very positive experiences here and made many good friends. The public transport in Helsinki is fantastic and cheap, the city is only small in comparison to most european capital cities and is clean. Finnish is a very dificult language since it is unrelated to other languages (except ... ...(which i have great respect for) however many are reluctant to speak english. I have often hit major language barriers in my daily life but as a tourist you can do fine with no finnish skills. Finnish people tend not to speak unless spoken to and i find them often arrogant and selfish, also spitting in the street is a very common habit here for both males and females of all ages. But i do find that finland is much more friendly in the summer, when ...

Advantages: have some good players Disadvantages: not enough f them
Finland come to Anfield today with one win, one defeat and one draw, they lie second in group nine with four points but having played one more game than England. They have danger men and have the potential to cause an upset. Even though I think it is not very likely. Jri Litmanen and Sami Hyypia play for Liverpool and overall only one Finnish players plays football in their own country. Stockport’s Wiss is also playing.
The point I am making ...

I took my daughter to what I can only describe as the most magical and fun holiday of a lifetime, Lapland, in December 2001. After looking at the few tour operators (canterbury being one of them) that do this holiday and thinking we would never afford it because of their over inflated prices (they wanted at least £1600 for 4 days for 2 people), I decided to arrange everything myself. I booked a 4* hotel direct and booked flights with the finish guild ... ...only costs £18 per year and you can save up to 50% on flight prices - I then booked my excursions once I arrived there - one nights snowmobiling where we went up to the mountins and cooked sausages over a camp fire and drank coffee whilst sitting cosily on a reindeer skin watching the stars, one days snowmobiling to santa village where my daughter met the 'real' santa claus and elves - this tour included lunch, and half a day skiing tution which ...

Advantages: relatively low prices, a lot to see Disadvantages: cold on winter
This part of the world is usually ignored by tourists and preffered to much sunnier places like spain or france. It is quite cold in Finland, specially in winter, when the temperature gets to -20 degrees centegrade, so its better to come in summer. The main place to visit is Helsinki of course, the capital of Finland. It has beautiful architecture which was built during 18th century by russans when finland was part of russia. In helsinki there a ...

period and one of the reasons he is held with such high regard in Finland is that he was working at a time when Finland was forming a strong sense of national identity. It was an important time for the arts generally in Finland and the dominant architectural style seen in the capital, Helsinki, also originated during this period and was strongly influenced by Finnish heritage and themes from nature.
Appropriately his best known works reflect this; Finlandia, the Karelia Suite and the Swan of Tuonela are famous the world over and are performed regularly in Finland in particular. Sibelius wrote seven symphonies and it is believed there could be an eighth although what exactly he did write in later years is unclear.

of the things you should prove is the local sauna, although, arguably, Finland is probably even better for this.
Generally speaking, Hotels can be expensive. Youth Hostels still offer good value for money and are generally very well kept and cater for families too.
In summer, there are many modern camping sites. Because of the problem with mosquitoes, I would advice to select one, which is not infested by these insects.

wouldn't be a problem; but without it a family would soon see the increase in their frustrations and spending money if they were to stay here for a couple of weeks. Consequently, my major gripes would be the lack of tea & coffee making facilities as standard in all rooms and the absence of a courtesy coach.
