I finally got to go to Greece after many years of reading about its history and mythology, and the place far exceded my expectations. I stuck to the mainland, and traipsed up hills and down caves seeking out famous archaeological sites which were stunningly beautiful and fascinating. What I found most intoxicating though was the whole atmosphere of Greece - very hot, very laid back, and very tasty when it came to the food! After a week of seeking out Mycenae, Delphi, Athens, Olympia, and so on, I relaxed for a while in Halkidiki, a resort where the Greeks go on holiday too. The seas were crystal clear and calm, the beaches beautiful and the bars friendly and very very cheap!
