If you are accustomed to British toilets and are quite particular about toilets and hygiene, then be very careful when looking for toilets in Hong Kong. Many toilets are those consisting of merely a hole in the ground. Ideally you want to go in hotels and good restaurants. Be careful when you are touring rural areas such as temples and the countryside.
My advice would be to only drink fluids when you know for sure that there will be a decent toilet nearby when time comes to empty your bladder. Also, remember to carry around with you a packet of tissues, as tissue is a rarity in Hong Kong’s toilets.
