Why am I writing this review? I have written about some tourist attractions in Lebanon previously, however, I must admit that I should’ve written about Lebanon in general first before writing about the attractions. I’m originally Lebanese but I have rarely lived in Lebanon however that doesn’t mean that I will deny my origin. What made me think about writing this are two major things, first I was born abroad and sadly my parents didn’t try to educate me about my country so I didn’t want to repeat the same mistake with my children. My boys were born and bred in the UK so I felt that they must ... more

Advantages Advantages Rich historical and archaeological as well as cultural country

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not many for tourists, but slightly expensive

The Lebanon may not seem an ideal holiday destination to many, but to some, the idea is rather tempting. Most people are in a sense still frightened, because of the war that tore the country for over 15 years, from 1975 (although some say earlier) until 1990. Who can blame them? The truth is, Lebanon has been rebuilding itself (too much in a way) since 1990, and although there have been episodes of car bombings and explosions in the past 15 years; they have not been much more numerous than many bombings that have shocked London in the past same 15 years. ******************************* At ... more

Advantages Advantages A very fun Country to visit and live in

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some smog and needs to clean up it's litter problem

Having lived in Lebanon for the past three years I have come to understand and acknowledge the Lebanese and Arab cultures. There are many important cultures and things that are very different in Lebanon and I am going to explain them to you. If you visit during the time of Rhamadan which is a time of fasting for Arabic people it is polite to not eat in public during the day. This is because during Rhamadan Arabs are not allowed to pass anything between their lips from dawn to dusk. However during the night they go out and celebrate and during this time there is amazing dance clubs and ... more

When they say everyone in Lebanon accepts US currency, they're not kidding. Even the smallest shop has two drawers in its till; one for Lebanese currency and one for US dollars. You may get your change in local currency but you don't have to worry about getting local currency as soon as you get off the plane. There are plenty of cash machines too. These of course give you Lebanese pounds. It's really amazing to stop outside a bank at some little village up in the hills use your card in the machine just as you would in your home country. Mind you, unless you're really living it up at the best ... more

Advantages Advantages Great food, great nature, great culture!

Disadvantages Disadvantages A civic war ruined much.

I just want to say that you should ignore "Length of visit, Daily budget and size of group". Lebanon is called the pearl of the middle-east and is one of the most beautiful countries in the middle-east. In the year 1985 a civic war accrued in Lebanon that would last to 1991. This civic war changed everything in the country. Before the war Lebanon was visited by famous celebrities and rich people and it was a very glamorous country in it’s best years. Now after the war much is changed but Lebanon is still an exceptional country. In Lebanon there are a lot of Christians and before the war the ... more
