When they say everyone in Lebanon accepts US currency, they're not kidding. Even the smallest shop has two drawers in its till; one for Lebanese currency and one for US dollars. You may get your change in local currency but you don't have to worry about getting local currency as soon as you get off the plane.
There are plenty of cash machines too. These of course give you Lebanese pounds. It's really amazing to stop outside a bank at some little village up in the hills use your card in the machine just as you would in your home country. Mind you, unless you're really living it up at the best hotels you probably won't need much money anyway!
