I used to work in the Maldives as a Resort Manager, and had the opportunity to visit many of the islands. All the islands have their own characteristics, and it comes down to what is important to you. The larger islands such as Kuredu, Herathera, Meeru & Sun, tend to have more activity opportunities, however, it is still really relaxed and down to you. I think having an island with more than just the main restaurant is a good idea, its nice to treat yourselves during your holiday, and to have a break from the buffet. The spa treatments are fantastic, and the setting amazing - well worth treating yourselves. Visit a nearby local island, as it gives you an insight into how Maldivian life is really like.
