General: Martinique

Hi there, I'd like to tell you more about my favourite island, called Martinique.

You may ask me why I especially want to write about it. I am logged too in Ciao France because it's my birth language. And I am French from islands, and Martinique is french since 1635 !
So, excuse me for making mistakes I could make during writing this opinion..

Martinique is located beetwen Saint-Lucia and Dominica, those islands takes part of Commonwealth Community, and you'll be able to speak english if you go to visit those islands. This is far away from England, we may estimate the length of the flight to cross the Atlantic about 8 hours, 10.000 miles away from London and rest of United Kingdom..:o)

The weather in Martinique is hot and wet 12 months/12. Don't forget this is the "Tropiques". The best season to go is during winter or spring, the sun is warmy and the beach are wonderful. Nevertheless, you can also come in summer or autumn, but it’s often raining, and we have devastating hurricanes during august and july. Be careful, because Martinique is very boring when weather is horrible, you can’t go out !

There’s a lot of things to see and to do. With the beaches of white sand, woderful tropical landscapes and vegation, and also museums remaining times of slavery, rhum distilleries, ramblings throught tropical jungle and more.

The main city, Fort-de-France, is very poor and rather horrible. I advise you to rent a car during you trip to discover the countryside and the others locations like Saint-Pierre or Sainte-Anne

. North of Island is very “green” and the beach are composed of black sand because of volcanic activity (our main volcano, Montagne Pelée, is one of the ten most dangerous volcanos worlwide)..Southern Martinique is most “dry”, with wonderful beaches made of white sand. The hotels are very clean, and Martinique people are always smiling. Like me :o)
