Pros: Small, friendly people, a lot of nature. Cons: Crowded in the summer, the weather. The Bottom Line: Visit Holland soon and love it too! Recommended: Yes
I already wrote about my town, Maastricht, now i write about my country; the Netherlands.
Capital: -------- The capital is Amsterdam. In this town live about 700.000 people. Its a very historical place and has more to offer then drugs and the redlight-district. The most important musea and buildings of the Netherlands are build here. There is a streetmarket that is opened 365 days a year and you can buy there everything xou can imaging or not imagine.
Den Haag: --------- This is our second "capital". Here you find our queen Beatrix and all government buildings. Daily politics are made here. It is almost completely build in the 1920s and has a lovely architecture.
Hilversum: ---------- Some special place. It is the Hollywood of the Netherlands. Here is the world where TV and Radio is made. Come and visit our celebreties: Andre Rieu is one of them, although he lives in Maastricht.
Schiphol: --------- Our biggest airport. The first place you visit when you come to the Netherlands. There are about 25 smaller airports around the country. Maastricht has one to. When i want to go to Amsterdam i take the "Cityhopper" at "Maastricht Airport" and land 20 minutes later in Amsterdam.
Transportation: --------------- Bikes, bikes, bikes, bikes and wooden shoes. Where ever you look, you see a bike. There are even more bikes in Holland then residents. 16 Million people have about 27 million bikes and scooters. Bikers have their own, seperat, roads, so that they can drive safely around the country.
When you want to discover the country you can hop on train, bus, bike, plain, boat or car. You can reach every corner of the country within a hours. A trip to the beach would take me be train, 2 hours.
Transportation is very cheap, because they want to stimulate people to leave their cars at home. Carsharing is very common here.
Openingtimes: ------------- Shops are allowed to open until 10 p.m. Pubs are open until 5 a.m. In the realy big cities, like Amsterdam, you can also find shops that are open 24 hours a day.
Nature: ------- Holland is a country of water an flowers. There are a lot of big cities, but the government wants to have a lot of green in them. In every town are parks and little woods for relaxation and fresh air. There are also a lot of zones that are restricted for building; the natural parks. Just rent a bike and go out in the wild world.
Weather: -------- Take an umbrella or raincap with you where ever you go. When you do not need it, you are lucky.
Questions: ---------- I did not want to write a book about my country, so if you have questions.....feel free. Length of Visit: Resident
This is an opinion, that i´ve posted with www.einions.com also.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Which part is Holland there only? As I've heard that Holland is only a part of the Netherlands as same as England is only a part of Great Britain ;o) How about the culture stuff ie windmills? Is there much to see? Which cities and towns you are recommending? Anyways, it's a good review but could get some extended to get an E ;o)

Very nice introduction. I was looking for a well-rated resident op of a whole country before attempting my own; and now I don't know if I am not overdoing it...
