I look back on my first trip to New York in March 2003 and wonder how could I have then had such a wrong-footed opinion of Manhattan. New York City centre of the universe!!! That is what some people will let you think - I was initially bitterly disappointed back in 2003 but having just taken my fourth week long visit I have not only understand Manhattan but have taken this amazing city to my heart, one day I will have to live there.
I love the fact ... ...4am or have Ukrainian cabbage fritters at 4.40pm on a Sunday. I love that there is always somewhere new to go and that there are always a local spots were the music never changes and the faces are the same year in year out. I love the fact you can get total rubbish at a $1.00 stores but pay a $1.06 for them. I love that it can be the worst day ever and can go to the Park and it can cheer you up. I love that people on the street will go out their ...

What a 21st Review ofGeneral: New York Stateby

Advantages: Loads to see, loads of clothes shops Disadvantages: not cheaper that the UK, so much to see in so little time
And so the journey began… Stansted airport was our first destination, we were lucky enough to book the trip just as the American airline Continental started to fly to Newark New York. Perfect for us as we only live 20 minutes from Stansted. Check in was very easy, just slightly different from normal as you had to clear security first. Then before I knew it we were in the air. The stewardesses were extremely hospitable and were falling over ... ...of their older ones which meant no TV and computer games in the back of the seats but they were in the ceiling above us. The legroom was excellent and seats reclined much further than normal, allowing a good few hours of sleep. The food provided was some of the best I have ever eaten while flying, I had opted for the vegetarian meal and was provided with this before anyone else on the plane received their meal. The flight took about 7 hours and our ...

Advantages: Many places of Interest Disadvantages: none
I grew up in New York in a little dairy farming community about an hour away from the capital city of Albany were I was born. In high school I had pen pals by snail mail and every single one would ask how close it was to New York City like it was the only place in the state.
There is so much more to the state than the city or I should say group of cities.
There is a small village called Kinderhook which houses the home of the former president Martin ... ...it's halls are haunted with his ghost.
This town is also were the Legend of Sleep Hallow took place which you probably learned about in school or have watched the latest movie about.
There are the Catskill Mountains where Rip Van Winkle supposedly fell asleep in the woods. There is a nice game farm there and many concerts by country artists.
The Adirondack Mountains have many lakes, riverboat cruises down the lake,
many play type places for the ...

Advantages: Something for everybody. Disadvantages: Should know what to expect in a diverse STATE!
Whenever someone mentions New York, one immediately imagines tall buildings, traffic jams, rude people, concrete jungle, etc. New York CITY is often the mental image conjured at the mention of NY. New York State is so much more than New York City. Life tends to become a slower pace in Upstate New York. Upstate New York is anything north of Westchester County or New York City.
The small area of New York City has the bulk of NY's population. There ... ...million in the rest of the State. The State motto is Excelsior(Ever Upward). State politics favor New York City and the Albany capital region as the most developed and prosperous parts of the State. Certain parts of the State get pounded with feet or meters of snow each year, while some areas get hardly any. In the Adirondacks temperatures can drop to near 0 at night, even in August. Adirondacks and Catskills are the mountain ranges of NY. They are ...

New York is since an eternity a dreams, who was formerly regrettably inaccessible in the general public, of the peer cost of the journey before praises the merits! New York remains the UNO symbol, for 19-th century the peer Statue the Freedom of it, which was first chose it that one could perceive in the big by arriving from Europe the peer Deckchairs, the UNO symbol of hope overturns a lot. That of an earth promise, in wealth is it easy disante... ... ...and the admixture of meeting of population be in hiding of the whole! I went several times in this city, dénomée the Big Apple and I am in love with it always so much and dreamer to leave there...
One of my favorite places is Ellis ilsand, an island which formerly welcomed in the unlimitedness of its premises, the stream of the applicants for immigration, today the island of Ellis is connected with the museum of the Statue of Liberte, and visits ...

If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
