Nigeria, so many people have a bad view of people from this place, a typical example of the minority taring the majority, but for the few interent scammers, and fraudsters who use the country as a safe haven, you really should look beyond the cloak!
Nigeria, is a federal constitutional republic comprising thirty-six states and one Federal Capital Territory. The country is located in West Africa and shares land borders with the Republic of Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east, and Niger in the north. Its coast lies on the Gulf of Guinea, part of the Atlantic Ocean, in the south. The capital city is Abuja.
The country itself harbours many dangers, and as man who tends not to pay danger money to the would be mafia style hi-jackers who stop your jeep and threaten you with a sharpened coke can, I take most of them with a pinch of salt.
Sure, if the gangs dont get you, the Malaria ridden mosquito will, heres praying the gangs carry anti malarial tablets.
Im quite de sensitised to the gory sites that man has produced over the years, but even I found it shocking to find a corpse of some guy, minus his hands, rotting away in a back alley, obviously a thief who couldnt stop the bleeding in time, or couldnt pull his health insurance card out from his wallet.
To avoid this sort of outcome, it really is best to go around armed to the teeth with a wad of dollar bills (Throw them in the air, and run) and of course a 9mm pistol, oh, oh, I nearly forgot, and dont try to step out of line too!
Flying into Lagos Airport, once through customs (Oh the power of a British Passport!) you are innundated with Taxi drivers, all offering you a \"Special Price my friend\", specially high indeed, my way around this in every country I enter is to reply, \"Ah yes, my friend, my good friend, it is many years since I have seen you! How is my wife\" this simply confuses them, and they soon go away.
Its best to hire a vehicle if you can, and avoid the death trap that comes from the roller coaster ride in some old trabant style car thats older than the drivers Granny !
One of the majorly noticeable things about this country is how many people there are, its totally packed to the brim, and overflowing too.
Aparently It is the most densely populated country in Africa.
Lagos is in the south of Nigeria, and by the coast, so, what do I do, well, no more planes for me, lets drive North, and then East a bit.
A few days down the line I came to the town of Undogo, near to Bali.
This pure cespit of a town, with its \"Greet Weestern Lotel\" as its spelt has no charm about it whatsoever, and on several occasions locals with AK47s paid me and my crew a visit asking for money. Within a day or so, the Army turned up, not to protect us, but to ask us for money too. I paid, knowing the army actually gives their soldiers a few bullets. All problems stopped, apart from our translator going AWOL, never to be seen again!
Years of military rule, corruption, and mismanagement have hampered economic activity and output in Nigeria and continue to do so, despite the restoration of democracy and subsequent economic reform.
Like many African coutries, Nigeria is populated with resourceful people who will make a dime out of anything, including you!
A word to the wise, Homosexuality is strictly forbidden in this country (It doest help that most of the guys with me are Gay) so everything has to be in the closet, again, we learnt the hard way after some Tusker bear, a kiss followed by the spanish inquesition by some guy claiming to be a Police Chief (No, I diddnt do the kissing!).
Generally, most people here are happy go lucky, and as always, the kids are simply adorable, so long as you throw them a few shillings.
The food is great, the culture in some parts is well worth filming, but so is the tough rough side, it certainly is about time someone sorted the place out!
Advantages: Hospitable people, Interesting tourist attractions to see, Potential business opportunities Disadvantages: Lack of publicity, Incorrect Image, Ignored tourism potential
Nigeria is located in West Africa. The country has a population of 110.000.000 plus. It generates most of its revenue from oil has a rich vegetation of agriculture. There are three major languages in the country namely, yoruba, ibo, hausa. The country has remained secular, despite the predominant religions of cristianity and Islam. People of the country succesfully lived harmoniously with intermarriages within the two religions and cultures. The ... ...for touris visits. There is the cold and hot spring water for in Ondo State, The Olumo Rock in Ogun State, where you find large boulders of rock perching on the tip of a very high and sharp cliff. Advantages: A destination to impress your friends with Disadvantages: Dangerous and unpleasant.
The definition of a nation:
Nation n. A part, or division, of the people of the earth, distinguished from the rest by common descent, language, or institutions; a race; a stock. With respect to the other two posters here, both of whom I suspect are Nigerian and possibly involved in the tourist industry, the Nigeria encountered by non-nigerians does not fulfill these criteria. Nigeria is as much a nation as Yugoslavia or Israel. It is divided by ... ...on all scales - from mass killings and gunfights through kidnappings to two individuals fighting in a bar.
I have visited Nigeria 3 times whilst employed by a survey company connected to the oil industry, aand although I went with an open mind, and have enjoyed time in Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Cameroon, Nigeria is a bit... well.... different. Nigeria is Located in West Africa, in an area known as "the armpit of Africa" due to... well, officially ...

Advantages: Beautiful Diverse Country Disadvantages: Negative attitudes
I was living in Nigeria in the late 70s, I still remember so much. even the first lines of the national anthem "Nigeria we hail thee, our own dear native land, though tribe and land may suffer, in brotherhood we stand......"
Nigeria has suffered through the years from human conflicts about religion and territory. Historically large sectors of Africa were invaded and colonialised by the British. Then with a total British disregard for local african ... ...were formed. Nigeria was a diverse mix religions and politics mainly Yoruba, Ibo and Hausa tribes, were some were farming cultures and others nomads. This has been a cauldron of mistrust and minor conflicts for many years. But they have OIL! and so Nigeria won its independance. All these years on Nigeria still thrives today as a super rich country......with of course, a super poor majority. Unfortunately a culture of this complex nature has more ...

Advantages: Good chinese restuarants, people... Disadvantages: travel, corruption, dangerous, accomodation, smell...
..., you have to bolt urself in at night seperate from the living room etc incase of home invasions. There is a hacksaw under the bed to cut your way throught the bars of the bedroom window should they choose to flush you out by torching the place.
There are small children as young as 2 or 3 begging for money on highways where traffic has backed up, walking inbetween HGV'S and cars, their parents eagerly waiting by the side of the road.
The general attitude is "this is nigeria" when things get stolen or things don't work... Its a shame because just settle for poor everything instead of trying to fix it.
On an upside the Lagos country club is brilliant fun and there are some night clubs but you can never fully relax. Previous comments of it being family friendly 4 out of 5?? ease of getting around 4 out of 5?? its all trash... you can...

Advantages: Bubbling city, pleasant places of interest Disadvantages: Traffic Jams, over populated, police!!!
...bridge could be such a pleasant experience. The cinema culture is coming back and while i was there, the Silverbird Galleria was a wonderful place to hang out and watch the latest movies ina top notch cinema.
There are so many places to eat out it's incredible from chinese to portuguese to itallian to indian. You have a foray of restaurants and eateries at your service. Food is much cheaper in Nigeria than over here and you can believe that most of it is organic food. That's why they are very strong and generally healthy considering all other circumstances
Apart from all the not so nice things, Nigerans are actually pleasant, friendly and warm people. They are very intelligent and strangely unlike many black races, very aggressive. I do not say that in a bad way. They are always on the go
I'm sure I have not covered all aspects...
