Switzerland is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to, I would recommend going there, especially Sion. Sion Is situated in a valley between the mountains and is only about an hours drive from Geneva. It is in the region of Valais and so is French speaking. There are plenty of places to go and plenty of things to do. Sion is close to ski slopes and the swiss alps. There are also a wide range of shops and cafes/places to eat. Sions most famous landmarks however, are the two castles set upon hills in the valley, the view from them is stunning. The lifestyle is very laid back and the people are very friendly. Travelling is easy as you could set your watch by the trains. You may be put off by the prices, however, it isn't really that much more expensive than in England.

Advantages: A beautiful country. A rare old world charm that has the right mix of modern and fachionable. Great food and greet people. Disadvantages: Can be very expensive, especially if travelling with a family.
