Tobago.
Tobago is one of most beautiful country, in the West Indies; it’s the sister of Trinidad. It takes 15 minutes by flight from Trinidad. An ideal place for the whole family to enjoy, as well as weddings and honeymoons.

I do know that Sir Michael Heseltine and his family enjoyed Tobago; he is very keen on birds! No no no not dem birds… you know the other birds. (Smile!)

It is a cosmopolitan; it’s the birthright of steel band, calypso and limbo.
If you are coming to Tobago you would notice its cool very serene, beautiful with its lush tropical rain forests, the verdant hills where wildlife and plant life bear evidence to the richness of Tobago. The mystery of the seas, the artistic expression of the people, the folklore and customs all will restore your sprits!

How do you get there?

There are flights from London you can either travel through to British Airways, British West Indian Airways (my favourite airline) Virgin Airlines do package holidays including accommodation. You can also check for cheap flight on cheapflight.co.uk.

Where do I stay?

There are many types of lodgings, hotels, resorts, guest houses, apartments, condos and villas.

One hotel I know very well is Ocean Point, it is a truly beautiful and friendly hotel, and there are other features to this hotel you would notice straight away. The 12 self-contained apartments are air conditioned, the kitchenettes are fully equipped, private balconies, with …guess what wait for it… Yes a hammock! Daily room service, cable TV.
Also featured is large sun deck area with outdoor barbecue pits, a palm thatched pool, side restaurant bar, a kidney shape garden pool surrounding an award winning cosy restaurant in a garden atmosphere.
It is right next to the championships golf course. The beach is three minutes walk.

What do I eat and drink?

There are exotic cocktails and fresh fruit drinks, a la carte menu with local specialities, seafood delights, grilled foods and vegetarian dishes. Mmmmmm..

Where do I go?

There are art galleries and museums. Aquamarines life, adventure farms, nature reserves, nature tours bird watching., snorkelling, beaches, watching leatherback turtles nesting at Turtle beach, and Golf.

A good one for nature lovers is organize by Darren Henry a trained forester a licensed tour guide who specialises in rainforest tourism. He has the ability to identify flora and fauna, wetland bird, and there is the little Tobago bird sanctuary and sight seeing tours.

What about night life?

There are many places you can go, some of these are:
Bonkers this is in Store Bay Local Road. You get live music
Copra Tray also in Store Bay you get DJ and African drumming on Saturday Night
Lush – Shirvan Road you get disco and occasional live acts. Better to go Friday night!
The Deep – Andy Point Village – You get Disco with international sounds

Wanna get married, have a honeymoon?

Why not blend it with romance and indulge in some recreation in this picturesque of Tobago, or have a wedding and honeymoon.

There are firms that cater for weddings and honeymoons packages. You can phone Arthur’s By the Sea which is in Crown Point on 001 868 639-0196
Coco Reef Resort & Spa in Scarborough 001 868 639-8571
Manta Lodge in Speyside 001 868 660-5268.

What you should do after 3 days arrival

Trinidad has now amended the marriage act of 1996 which makes it easier for couples from abroad to get married. Here is what you should know:
Both parties must be non-residents of Trinidad and Tobago.
You must be residence in the country for three days.
Both parties must produced proof of residence, passport and airline tickets.
Identification of applicants - passports are accepted
If divorced you must produce original or notarized copy of degree absolute
If widowed original death certificate of spouse.
Deed poll or other proofs of name change where name differs on documents.

To apply for your marriage licence which cost $337.50 and must be payable in cash or in postage stamps which you can get from the General Post Office.

Tobago is truly beautiful place for Weddings and Honeymoooooooooning or holidaying. You just love it!

Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!
