Advantages beautiful place
Disadvantages expensive alcohol. need loads of immodium
i decided to go here for my holiday because i opened the brochure and it really jumped out at me, beautiful white sand and Mediterranean temperatures, my boyfriends offered to pay for this holiday for my 18th birthday. so we went and it cost £1000 for the hotel and flights for 2 weeks bed and breakfast.
we landed at monistir airport to absolutely gorgeous weather, it was a scorching 41 degrees, there were smiles on everyone's faces. We got into the airport which was fully air conditioned, got our luggage and got on the coach all within an hour, the coach driver got on and to our relief put the air conditioning on. we did the first drop off, and finally we pulled up at ours, mine and my boyfriends faces dropped, as we pulled up. We stayed in the 'skanes el hana', it was beautiful just like the brochure, we got off the coach to bell boys who took out luggage into the lobby, we were escorted to the seating area, marble floors lovely comfortable slouchy chairs, it ws great. we filled in our forms, that we were Given (we still dont know what they were for.), and handed then in to be told our hotel room wasn't going to be ready, so we decided to change some money at the hotels bank, we got their to be told they had run out of money, eventually we decided to go for a walk on the beach, dying for a drink and tired, we set off on the pure white sand only a stone through away from the pools edge.we got down to the shore, when a young local male came up to us and give us a free gift each, he said its a gift for arriving safe, so as we said thanks and started to proceed he stopped us and asked for money, we said we didn't have any, in the end up we gave him £5 just to get rid of him in english.
we got back to the hotel, got our bags, up to the room, got changed and went to get some money changed, ahha they had some a drink at last was the only thing on my mind.the second day with it being so warm, i decided to go for a swim in the sea, eventually i got out, and layed down, i took 15 minutes to persude my boyfriend into coming for a swim, when we got in we splashed and swam, then i got stung by a jelly fish, it total agony we got out. we saw many people get stung many children who were splashing about.
the sea was extremely safe as the beach was patrolled by life guards and police, the police actually swam in their uniforms to cool down which i thought was funny. The food in the hotel was absolutely appalling we queued for breakfast, as the half board got served first, and the meals in the pizzaria wasn't impressive it served pizza (surprise surprise), steak well done only, skewers, omelettes, and cheese and chicken sandwiches which after the first 4 days became extremely boring.
One night we decided to go up to the Cocktail bar on the 5th floor with 4 couples we had met, we all got in the lift, went to the floor to be greeted by darkness, so we went downstairs and asked what time it opened we were told it is shut forever, so we toddled off to the American bar which served £200 champagne and soggy crisps, and a few other drinks, this bar had never seen an american or anything american.

God, this seems so similar to my experience. Actually the funny thing was that I opted for one of those holidays where you can either go to one of two hotels. The El Hana was the one that we didn't get to go to :-( We got sent to a grotty one on the outskirts of Skanes and I lost a stone in a week!! (I took Airtours to court too and got some cash back as we had cockroaches BREEDING under our bed!!- eeek!). Excellent op!

its a good op and i still reckon it would b interesting to go to tunisia. I am especially interested as my best friend is tunisian. Its a pity your time there was somehwat spoiled. If i ever go i'll get advice on where to stay from someone who lives there and knows the places. brochures can't be trusted. cheers -ozcr
