I went to Tunisia with my parner and my 13 year old daughter. We stayed at the Dar Khyam hotel all inclusive. Although the staff were very friendly and hospitable, Ifound the rooms and the facilities very basic. The room we stayed in consisted of a bunk bed in which our daughter slept and two single beds which me and my partner pulled together. This bed situation was not comfortable at all but the hotel claimed that this is what a double room consisted of. We stayed all inclusive. The food was presented beautifully and looked very tempting, however when it came to trying it the story in the most part was very different. The food seemed to cater manly for the French and German and alsthough I did not go to Tunisia for English food I did not really get to taste much Tunisian neither. The Tunisian staff quietly admitted to me that they don't eat the food there as it is not their true cuisine. The pool was beatiful and busy with lots of chairs and loungers and was a nice outdoor environment with a bar area. The bar staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help and the drinks were local beverages and plentiful
Outside of the hotel were plenty of shops selling potteries, jewellery, ornaments, brass, clothing and shoes. Fake designer clothing are plentiful and cheap. The beach is beautiful clean and has lots of water activities. Aside from that outside the resort there is very little. Other attactions are quite a distance away such as the Roman Collisieum and the wwhite village. However taxis are cheap and are easily organised via your tourist rep. If you do want to be closer to the more historical sites you are probably better staying in Sousse. I would rate my experience as average and not particularly worth the money spent i.e £2800 for the 3 of us, not including the spending money.
