Geneva - a great city
Review of Geneva (Switzerland) by tishnumf

Advantages: Lots to do, nice atmosphere
Disadvantages: Hotels are rather expensive

My husband & I visited Geneva last month & loved it. It's just such a big city with so much to do. We went to the Reformation museum & Red Cross museum, but there are also art museums, a watch museum and others. Cathedral is worth a visit- we went to a concert in it which was a great experience. Also visited some sights to do with Jean Calvin the Christian reformer - such as the Reformation Wall. Went on a cruise on Lake Geneva which was lovely. ...
...alps which you can visit by coach. Hotels & restaurants can tend to be a bit pricey, but we stayed in "Hotel Central" which is reasonably priced and a nice hotel. Most locals in Geneva spoke English so it was quite easy to get by with minimal french language abilities! ... Read review

Chocolates and cuckoo clocks....
Review of Lake Geneva area by Sophie-Kaia

Advantages: pretty scenery, lots to do, peaceful
Disadvantages: can be expensive

The surrounding of lake Geneva takes me back in time. There are numerous cafe's and chocolate shops dotted all around, these are very quaint with a "time gone by" feel to them. Though some can be expensive (Geneva is no the cheapest of cities!) it is well worth taking a walk around the lake with a bag of your favourite hand picked chocolates! The lake, and it's surrounding cafe's and shops, are very clean and unspoiled, in fact the cleanliness ...
...or roller skate around the lake area. The local, small but rather quaint and lovely shops are fun to visit, especially as there are a fun collection of cuckoo clocks that can be bought - very tempting, but maybe next time, great fun for browsing though! Even traditional swiss children's clothing can be purchased -whatever takes your fancy, there is a wide variety of produce from confectionary to clothing which is sure to keep the shopper and the ... Water, water everywhere........
Review of Lake Geneva area by danthepianoman

Advantages: Everything!
Disadvantages: None.

...Easter period in and around Lake Geneva, I have well and truly fallen in love with it. I tend to head for Evian-les-Bains to use as my base (which is where the bottled water comes from), because of the views and facilities. Sitting right on the edge of the lake, it provides easy access to nearby Switzerland as well as the local French sights and sounds. The weather there was absolutely fantastic, and you even see the snow-capped mountains of Switzerland. ...
...to spend, as surely the lake will provide you with ample entertainment! Nightlife is about as good as it gets, but average for your small French/ Swiss holiday towns. The whole area also provides things for all the family, so you won't get bored at all! A lot of English tour operators will do regular trips to the area, so my best advice is to contact your local centre for further details. ... Read review

The Crown Of Switzerland
Review of Geneva (Switzerland) by Tricia24

Advantages: Londoners perspective: beautiful, clean, orderly and different
Disadvantages: Londoners perspective: Expensive (yes even for me!)and a little small and quiet

I have been to Geneva three times now because I have a friend who lives there. Otherwise I’m not sure it would have crossed my mind to visit. It’s certainly not one of those places on everyone’s must see list. Geneva is in Switzerland but is actually surrounded by France. It is a very unique city - a mix of European and British / American influences with people of all different nationalities settled there. And although the primary language is French ...
...Geneva could not be simpler. Most budget airlines fly there, for example Easyjet have around three flights a day from London Gatwick. The flight only takes an hour and a half and as long as you don’t travel during the peak skiing season prices are really cheap (for example £10!). The airport is not far from the city centre and the easiest way to get into town is to take one of the swanky double decker trains to Cornavin train station. Once you’ve ... Read review

Geneva
Review of Geneva (Switzerland) by Disillusioned

Advantages: Near France and Italy. Beautiful scenery.
Disadvantages: Similar prices to UK

Introduction ~~~~~~~~ Geneva is located in the south-west part of Switzerland is very near to France. In fact part of Geneva airport is in France. If going on holiday to you means "cheap stuff" then Geneva and Switzerland in general for that matter is not your ideal holiday. Switzerland shares rip-off Britain prices and many things are more expensive there. The only thing that is cheaper there is petrol and fags. Scenery ~~~~~~~~~~ The scenery ...
...and see the famous Lake Geneva fountain. At night Geneva is stunning, the fountain is lit up and all the posh offices have fancy lights. (Like the ones Harrods has) On top of all that you are only a 20 minute drive to the Alps where there is more breathtaking scenery. About Switzerland in General ~~~~~~~~~~~ Switzerland is made up of 23 cantons. These are like our counties except have much more power, for example laws are vary widely for canton ... Read review
