The George Hotel

Advantages: Good food, pleasant staff and good prices
Disadvantages: the ghostly feeling

Whilst visiting friends in Lydd in Kent, we stayed at "The George hotel" a large hotel built in a very small town. When we went to the hotel, you can feel the characteristics and you can see some original features, we paid before we took our luggage up and the prices to stay for a double room is £45.00, a single room is £25.00, win is £45.00 and a room for a family of 3/4 is £55/£60. You can also have the choice to have breakfast there which was from £3.50 - £6.95 and of course you can't stay at a hotel without having there fry up!! The staff showed us our way up to our room, the place felt very strange and weird. As you walk along the narrow hallway on the top floor it was creaky and dim, you can even see that the flooring was slanted, it looked very spooky to me. We had a double bedroom with a TV and DVD player, tea and coffee ...

Review of George Hotel, Lydd

Just a basic airport hotel

Advantages: Cost and location
Disadvantages: Doesn't include airport transfers in cost

Looking for a hotel to stay in at Gatwick was proving to be quite difficult as I didn't want to pay out a lot for it with it just being for a 1 night stay - however at the same time I wanted to be as near to the airport as possible to make the trip to the airport in the morning as short as possible! After looking up various hotels on the Internet I came across this one and at a cost of just under £50 for two of us for 1 night it was decided that this would fit the bill and so it was booked. The hotel doesn't include airport transfers as does some of the more expensive hotels but at a cost of £3 per person it still worked out cheaper to stay here than to stay at one of the more expensive that did include it in the cost! Location: The hotel is set just near the M25 and M23 and is 10-15 minutes away from Gatwick airport. It is set in ...

Review of Best Western Gatwick Worth Hotel, Crawley

Cracking night's sleep, by George!

Advantages: Comfortable, historic hotel
Disadvantages: Bar shuts too early!

Thanks to the ticket touts (aka parasitic scum), I couldn't get tickets to any of the Manic Street Preachers' London gigs on their recent tour. As the Manics are a band that seem to be constantly on the verge of retirement, you don't like to miss an opportunity to see them live, so I booked the Reading concert. Over the years, I've decided my least favourite aspect of going to concerts is travelling home afterwards - ever since my sister threw up in the car somewhere in Somerset on the way back from the Newport leg of Radioheard's Big Tent Tour. So I decided to book a hotel, and I decided I wanted a NICE hotel. The George Hotel is apparently the oldest building in Reading. It's incredibly easy to find, right at the heart of the town centre, and about a ten minute walk from the train station. From the outside, it looks like some ...
