I stayed in this hotel recently on a quick visit to London. What I had heard of it had been good, but still I was a touch sceptical.
I was however pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, though basic. There was a TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities in the room. The furnishings in the room were clean and tidy. My room had a balcony. There is also a safe in the room as well.
The shower room was en suite, but was small. Very small, such that the shower door wouldn't open fully because it hit off the toilet. Yes this is a downside, but at least the shower room was clean and it usable. Besides, if you are staying in London, how long exactly are you going to spend in a shower?
Breakfast is also included in the price. This is fruit or cereal followed by either boiled eggs or a full cooked breakfast, from memory. Orange juice and tea or coffee etc. Fairly typical. It was nicer than I expected anyway.
The staff are all foreign but they do speak good English, are friendly and helpful.
The reception is staffed 24 hours a day meaning that you can come in at any time. Entry is buy a buzzer at the door, complete with CCTV camera so security is pretty good.
I believe that there is internet access available for guests.
Some things are available to buy from the reception, such as shampoo, soft drinks etc. But as you can imagine these are all pricey. Rather standard for a hotel.
There is a luggage room for leaving cases in after you check out, which is handy as check out time is 10:30, but I wasn't due to leave London until that night.
All in I was impressed by this hotel. It was cheap, great value and in a nice area, being between Belgravia and Chelsea. There is Victoria station nearby, so tube, coach, train and bus links are nearby. This means getting around is easy. You are within walking distance of Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament, being around a mile away.
In response to some comments, prices vary depending on time of year but are around £50 per night for a single and £75 for a double. There is an NCP car park a few minutes away with special rates for hotel guests. There is no lift in the building so it is most unsuitable for the disabled.
I chose this hotel mainly because it was cheap and I thought it worth the risk. I was pleasantly surprised. There is no room service.
It was very easy to find being just down the road from Victoria Station. As long as you can read the big letters that say Georgian House Hotel outside the building, you will find it ok.
