NEVER JUDGE A HOTEL BY ITS OUTWARD APPEARANCE
Review of AMBER HOTEL Chemnitz Park, Chemnitz by RICHADA

Advantages: Price. Food. Service. Comfort. Quiet. Location.
Disadvantages: Looks like an Office Block!

WHY DID WE BOOK THE AMBER HOTEL CHEMNITZ? Requiring a convenient hotel to stay in overnight on our return from Poland in May, we discovered the Amber Hotel whilst searching for hotels adjacent to E40 (the main East / West continental route) in the Chemnitz area. Last year we stayed in a hotel called the Drei Shwanen, previously reviewed - about five miles to the south west of here. The Amber looked perfectly situated (and easy to find) very close ...
...office block - the words Amber and Hotel not being very prominent at all! Indeed, on the wall above the entrance Hotel Plaza is what it said, a tad confusing we thought. Reinforcing the office theme was the car park, where we had taken the precaution of pre-booking a space. Apart from the novelty of seeing our (in Germany at least rather unusual!) surname in print (on two spaces!), the parking reservation turned out to be 6 Euros entirely wasted. ... Read review

Michaels House is a very nice house
Review of Landhotel Michaelishof, Offen by lazza123

Advantages: Relaxing, friendly hotel
Disadvantages: A bit out of the way!

...5051 8870, 8085, 8086 Landhotel Michaelishof Hauptstrasse 5 29303 Bergen/Offen Landkreis Celle Germany *** General *** All of the staff speak perfect English, even if they start speaking quickly in German, if you tell them your German is not too good, they immediately break into English. Also the staff seem to remember you, and what you like, every morning for breakfast, the waitress made me tea, as on the first day I indicated that I ...
...with my name - considering the last time I ate there, about 30 Dutch were in, and I sat quietly in the corner, I was impressed to say the least. The only downside for me was that there was no Internet access, I just drove into Bergen and used an Internet Café. Thanks for reading this, and if you are ever in this part of Germany and need somewhere to stay, you really couldn't go wrong with this family run hotel. Larry ... Read review

Ibis Paderborn (Germany)- Sehr Gut!
Review of Ibis, Paderborn by gt5952

Advantages: Clean, Servicable, Friendly
Disadvantages: No Pool!

...run by individuals trading as Ibis, complying to the companies standards and ethics. Ibis has a base standard work line for all its hotels, and you will find a standardisation between all of them. Ibis was the first hotel chain to earn ISO 14001 certification, the standard for environmental protection for such businesses. Ibis Paderborn. The Ibis in Paderborn (Nord Rhein Westfahlen, Germany) is located at the centre of the city, with ease of ...

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF PIGS TROTTERS
Review of Ringhotel Friederikenhof, Lübeck by RICHADA

Advantages: Situation. Food. Ambiance. Service. Value.
Disadvantages: Having to check out!

WHY DID WE BOOK THE RINGHOTEL FRIEDERIKENHOF? We did not actually, in a sense, choose to book this hotel. It just happened to be the venue for a friend's wedding reception. He was marrying a girl from Lubeck in the north of Germany. The invitation arrived at Easter time for the wedding on 5th October. We booked our three night stay immediately upon our receipt, and acceptance, of the invitation, having discovered that it was not exorbitantly expensive, ...
...and delightfully understated! Ringhotel are a German chain of hotels - a little like Best Western but on a smaller, national rather than international scale. In other words a chain of independently owned and run hotels, I was informed by the groom that he had stayed in a couple of others and that they are of a uniformly high standard. HAVE WE STAYED THERE PREVIOUSLY? I think that question has already been answered, no we had not, but as it transpired ... Read review

FOUR STARS FOR THREE SWANS?
Review of Hotel Drei Schwanen, Hohenstein-Ernstthal by RICHADA

Advantages: Superb Food. Large Room. Very Attractive En-Suite Bathroom.
Disadvantages: No Air Conditioning. Mini-Bar Not Working. No Secure Parking. Limited Facilities.

WHY DID WE BOOK THE HOTEL DREI SCHWANEN? The honest answer is because we could not find a room anywhere else in the area, that area being along the E40 (A4) Autobahn in Saxony, Eastern Germany. We usually stay in Dresden, if we’re lucky at the NH, otherwise at the Park Plaza Hotel. Leaving the booking unusually late – normally we book in January, once our summer travel plans are fixed - we discovered that in mid-March, when we attempted to do it ...
...The search for a hotel had spread out to the west along our route, I suggested that we try Chemnitz, a town approximately 60km (40 miles) closer to home than Dresden. After several searches, www.travelres.com came up with the Hotel Drei Shwanen (Three Swans) in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, a small town close to Chemnitz, but even closer to the Autobahn. HOTEL DESCRIPTION / OUR PERCEPTION FROM HOTEL PUBLICITY Mrs R was particularly taken with the appearance ... Read review
