Getreidegasse is situated in the "Old Town" of the City of Salzburg and is one of the most beautiful in the country.
The street is very charming and elegant.
It is most famous for its original whrougt signs which date back to the Middle Ages.
Little court yards and side lanes invite you to have a stroll or why not take the time to sit and have a drink in one of those little cafe's.
You will find one expensive boutique next to the other.
Getreidegasse is busiest during the summer months - with the rich guests visiting the famous "Salzburg Festival" during July/August.
It is during this time that you have a good chance of spotting many celebrities who are staying in the city.
Another famous feature of Getreidegasse is "Mozart's Geburtshaus" - Mozart's place of birth which attracts hundreds of visitors every day.
The Mozarts lived in 9 Getreidegasse from 1747 to 1773, and their son Wolfgang Amadeus was born there in 1756.
Today, the home of the Mozart family is a museum where famous exhibits are displayed.
Apart from shops you'll also find many flats which are occupied by mainly students as the University is only a few steps away.
Most locals from Salzburg, however, know how to avoid the Getreidegasse at least during the summer months.
If you would rather avoid the busy times then you should aim to visit this street first thing in the morning as it's fairly quiet then.
Getreidegasse is a pedestrian-only zone which makes it fairly safe.
You will also find lots of stands selling traditional Austrian goodies and gifts.
There are plenty of restraurants and take-aways available to satisfy your hunger.
Check out the little idyllic courtyards along the side lanes, you will find lovely quiet pubs there!
Getreidegasse is easily accessible by bus or taxi but best is to take a stroll through this wonderful city.
Don't miss it - you'll love it!

I found various sentences of this review lifted from other websites. It is against ciao rules that copying is used to produce a review.

Tempus - Believe me, I don't have any need for copying information from websites. I have lived there for over 20 years so I know this street and the surrounding area perfectly well. As far as I'm aware then it is NOT forbidden that I write for certain websites and then also use my own words on Ciao, is it? :)
You seem to be making a hobby out of checking up on what sources people are using....judging by your guest book entries.
However, I thank you for your comment. Nosey.

I would have liked to read more of your own personal opinion and not so much basic information copied directly from other sites. If you copy directly from other websites you must reference them clearly and I think it also states on Ciao that your review must not contain more than 10% quotes from other sites.
