BLACKPOOL EXPERIENCE - GETTING AROUND

In this review I have summarised the main ways of getting to, and around in, Blackpool. Most of my direct experience has been by public transport as I have only recently passed my driving test and have not driven much in Blackpool. I have, however, seen my parents driving around and parking.

Having Lived here in Blackpool all my life which has so far been 17 years i have found it to be interesting to say the least. Theres just so much to do here in Blackpool that you can't really get bored, although i do some times. I just can't see how people who grow up in Villages aren't bored. Whats to Do: - The Cinema - Well we have the Odean Cinema which i guess you all probably know as it is nationwide. We used to have the ABC cinema but not ...
...is Fairly big, i don't usually find myself without a Car park. I advise that if you do go to the cinema in Blackpool then go on Mondays because its Only £3.50 each. To check whats on when you go click on www.odean.co.uk - North Pier - Usually is a the place where the old Comedians come to entertain. People like Roy Chubby Brown and Freddie Starr, along with Cannon and Ball. I have been to all and there all good but Roy Chubby Brown is a bit dirty. ...

Enjoy Blackpool

Advantages: Great fun
Disadvantages: Can be pricey

...chosen to write in the getting around section of Blackpool. Well... in Blackpool there are many ways of getting around. Firstly you may try the bus. Buses in Blackpool run quite regularly and are fairly good value for money. Buses run by number here in Blackpool, there is the number 2 that runs from St Annes to Poulton via the Town Centre. To give you a rough idea of the price a trip from the Hospital to Town would cost you roughly about £1. In ...
...mini buses to big double decked buses. Then there are trams you can get around on. They run from St Annes to Fleetwood and are more pricey than buses. You are looking to spend £1.00 each even for a single stop whereas on the bus you would spend less to travel further. Trams are frequent and come in all shapes and sizes. Trams make a loud noise when your on them and I find that I get travel sick very easily on them. In the winter when the illuminations ...

Using the Trams

Advantages: Cheap!
Disadvantages: None

Using the trams is a great way to get round Blackpool, we stayed in St Annes, a 5 minute drive the the tram terminus (right by Pontins) £1.50 for 12 hours parking (in London you would be lucky to pay that for 1 hour) and an average of £1.20 per trip on the trams!!! You can also get day passes on the trams but dont know how much they are as didnt get one!!! They also run late in to the night! Which is handy as we went back in the evening to view the ...

A tip for those organising a stag or hen party

Advantages: Fun and cheap
Disadvantages: Busy

Blackpool is definitely the best place in the UK to go for a night out especially if you are on a hen/stag night. There are loads of pubs and clubs and there is a good mix/variety of them, so there is something for everyone. Blackpool is fairly easy to get to wherever you are coming from. Even from London, you can drive it in around three and a half hours or get the train in under 4 (via Preston). Blackpool is at the end of the M55 which is off the M6. There are 2 stations in Blackpool and you get there directly from Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham and via Preston from Scotland, the North East and the South. You cannot move for B&Bs in Blackpool so you are never short of somewhere to stay cheaply if you want or there are more expensive and some quite nice hotels as well (Stakis, Imperial, De Vere). You can turn up ...

Blackpool Trams.

Advantages: Good experience.
Disadvantages: Sometimes very busy.

The Blackpool trams are a major tourist attraction in the town as well as a very practical way of getting around. The trams travel along the promenade, taking visitors between all the piers and the Pleasure Beach theme park, as well as many other attractions along the way. There are tram stops at regular intervals all the way along the sea front so it is easy and very convenient to use. Trams come along every few minutes so there is never long to wait. From the north of the town the tram lines continue right up to Fleetwood, which is about a 45 minute journey from the centre of Blackpool. If you are travelling to Fleetwood, or are going to use the trams on a few occasions during a day, then it is worth buying a ticket for all day travelling. These are about £3 each for adults. There are trams of all different sizes, makes ...
