Getting Around in Bournemouth

Getting Around in Bournemouth

INTRODUCTION I thought I would write about how to get around in Bournemouth for two main reasons. The first, is that I live here/there so I am in a good position to inform people about it. The second reason, is that Bournemouth is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the ... Read review

Getting around Bournemouth

Advantages: The review tells the story
Disadvantages: The review tells the story

...best and cheapest way of getting around. However, in Bournemouth it's a different story. The buses are often very late, meaning even more time waiting at the bus stop. They are also very noisy and slow because the drivers aren't high on any drugs or drink which would mean they would driver faster and wrecklessly. In London, you pay a fare of either £1 or 70p for and adult and a fixed 40p for children. Here in sunny Bournemouth the story is very different. ...
...based on 50p for actually getting on the bus, plus a certain amount per mile. When you get on a bus you 'state your destination' and are then given a ticket. This also slows the bus down. You can also pay with a note and get change from it in Bournemouth.

A place for all ages!!!!!

Advantages: Fun for everyone old and young
Disadvantages: Have not found any yet

I have lost count of the times that I have been to Bournemouth, I have been in every season Spring Summer Winter and Autumn and there is so much to do for every age group at every time of the year. The Oceanarium on the Sea front is a must on a rainy day, next to that you have the World Famous Harry Rambsdens to go for lunch, you have then got around 7miles of glorious sand that is always clean, if you are not a beach lover there is enough shops to keep you going for days, then you could always catch the bus into Poole or Boscombe or Christchurch. You are on the doorstep of the New Forest, brilliant for picnics or long walks. After all that if you are a night person you will find some of the best night clubs in England in and around Bournemouth. If you get bored in Bournemouth there must be no pleasing you. ...

Don't make me scream!

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Hell on earth

It's a coach..and coahes are meant to be luxury. This one certainly isn't. I've travelled by National Express many times, sometimes just from Leeds to Sheffield. Other times Leeds to Bournemouth. Either way it does your head in... Leeds to Sheffield cost me around £5.80 return, which I guess isn't too bad. We set off around 10am to get to Meadowhall for the day. It took about 1hr to get there and the coach was quite empty. However this was in December and it was absolutly freezing on that coach...no heating whatsoever! But we survived..just. Sheffield to Leeds was worse. We waited for the coach in a freezing cold bus station for half an hour before it turned up - late! But this time there seemed to be more people than there were seats...and everyone had bags and bags full of shopping, including ourselves. Once on the coach it was ...

Bournemouth Rocks

Advantages: Pls see op
Disadvantages: Pls see op

-looked flower beds. You can quite literally follow the road up to the Pond, but I?m not sure I?d recommend it because there ain?t really much to see. Exeter Road leads to the beach, via the Bournemouth International Centre (the BIC). The BIC houses a leisure pool complete with wave machine, fitness centre, several halls for concerts or conventions, the occasional exhibition, a few lounges where you can get a drink, and, um, not much else. It?s highly unattractive but it has been home to the Labour and Conservative Party Conferences in its time. Exeter Road ambles around the Lower Gardens, which, like the Upper Gardens, are very green, very well cared for, and really quite pretty. They also house an aviary, if you want to see too many colourful birds in a tiny space. Not really to my taste, but each to their own. Sun, Sea and Sand ...
