Well where do I start,
Stoke-on-Trent, with its pottery industry 5 towns, both past and present, The Birth place of Robbie Williams, its connections with the legendary Sir Stanley Mathews and Famous Master Potter Josiah Wedgewood.

If arriving in Stoke-on-Trent via train, you would probably arrive at Stoke train station itself, outside of the station there is a Taxi service (North Staff/Eagle)(lucky Seven)(knights) and (Sids Taxi's) are all very reliable and reasonably priced, The local bus service( First Stop) operate on a regular basis, there is also independent smaller bus companies as well.

If wanting to use any of the local collages they are all in short walking distance of the train station, on exiting the station turn right, take your first left, and you will find Stoke-on-Trent on your right hand side.

If you want Stoke town centre itself, you could just walk there, approximately 15 minutes, on leaving the train station, turn right at the traffic light turn right again, straight ahead go under the rail bridge, and you will find the subway system leading to Stoke town or you could of course use the public services mentioned.

Stoke town is seen now less of the centre of the potteries, its quite a small town with a circular road system operating a one way system around the town, There are many public and council offices here, and Stoke town hall, there is a small splattering of shops and café's a Sainsbury's / Woolworth's and about 4 or 5 Public Houses.

Also the home of the Famous Spode factory.

A mile further up Hartshill bank you will find Stokes major Hospital, A and E and Maternity Wards.

The Major Shopping Mecca in Stoke-on Trent is now Hanley. 2-3 miles from Stoke town, Major bus route a terminal, Taxi service and vast amount of car parks for the independent traveller, Hanley is a big shopping area, from the Large Shopping centre in the middle of the town, where you will find all your brand named goods and items, it's top most floor has toilet and baby changing facilities, also a crèche for the little ones. There is also a full area of several restaurants and cafes serving from Burgers to specialist teas and coffees.

Below the Shopping centre is also a large indoor market, for all your bargains it also has two café's and toilet facilities.
Out and about in Hanley, you will find a vast array of shops, including Woolworths, British Home Stores, Argos there's also a McDonalds, KFC and the delicious Wrights pies not to be missed, Also if you've never tried them before Stoke-on-Trent's Oatcakes superb with Cheese and Bacon. The major part of Hanley's shopping area is pedestrianised so making it easy to get around, there is also a tourist information centre and Large museum. There is also several night clubs, a Bingo Hall here.

Further a field are Burslem and Tunstall smaller towns with high street shopping, a new Asda and Matalan and Argos complex, Mark One offers some great bargains for the female shopper among us. Port Vale football ground is just on the edge of town.
Plenty of parking facilities in both area, also both have a regular bus service running to Stoke and Hanley, a real mix of old and new as there is a lot of development taking place in these area's.

Heading of in the other direction you will come across Fenton and Longton, Fenton has seen it's day as far as commercial enterprise is concerned, but a nice place and pleasant community with many parks and fishing lakes, There is also Fenton Manor Baths with its sports facilities and nearby six form college.

Longton again as probably seen better days, but in the process of major development, The road around Longton operates a one way system, There is Longton Town Hall with its Famous Façade that has been restored to its former beauty, indoor Market, there is also a pedestrianised shopping area, which includes Woolworth's, Ethel Austin's and many others, on the edge of town you will find Kwiksave, Lidl the New Tesco Extra, Argos Extra and a Major Bus Terminal, there is also a small train station, which enables you to commute from Stoke. Probably the biggest working pottery in the area is John Tams ltd, but well worth a visit is the Gladstone pottery-working museum.

The newish Stoke city Football ground is found at sideway junction just of the A 500, just ask any local for directions, we all will be able to help.

You will find today's Potters a multi racial society of very friendly people. We are all very proud of our heritage and rightfully so, please come and enjoy your visit.

There are many Hotels and B&B's to choose from in all the towns I've mentioned.
