I was taken to Barcelona for a surprise trip last October. And what a surprise- it was an amazing city with so much to offer! We stayed in the University area of the city, about a ten minute trip into the city centre using the underground. We found there was so much to see and do it was hard to fit it in to the few days we were there. I would however recommend a few things to definitely do- take some time to wander up and down Los Ramblas, there is so much to see, also visit the markets they are a feast for the eyes (and the stomach!) Take the time to sit and watch the sunset on the waterfront- it is truely beautiful. Try and find places to eat in little backstreets, full of Barcelonians they are the best! Also try Place Reail (sp!), there is a restaurant that always has a queue outside- but trust me, it's worth it! We found the underground the easiest, and cheapest way to get around. Buy a 5 day ticket and you can jump on and off as much as you like. A fab city- worth the visit!
