Why can't our own cities learn from the likes of Berlin? The public transport in this city is cheap, clean and reliable. The system is integrated, so you can buy a period ticket (at a bargain price) that will cover you on the buses, trams (S-Bahn) and underground (U-Bahn).

...show the ticket, which makes getting on and off the various vehicles much quicker than in this country. Occasionally someone will come around and check them, so have it handy.
Buses on the major routes are sometimes crowded, but they are clean and run frequently. The S-Bahn is more reliable, but there aren't that many of these. For longer journeys use the U-Bahn network, which criss-crosses the city much as the London system does but is much cleaner!

Advantages: Clear info Disadvantages: Bad tourist route
The bus system in Berlin has gone to be envied by the United Kingdom surely. After spending only a short time in Berlin the map was easy to adjust to, with regular services, except the tourist bus, I think its the number ten, because too many people wanted it and it was too infrequent. The electronic display on buses telling you the next station is simple but perfect, I don't know if they have them anywhere else in the UK but not Doncaster. This ...

...attitude of the German people. Getting around the city is made both incredibly easy and fun for you. You can buy a TAGESCARTE, which is the equivalent to a London travel card. This enables you to travel on the buses, U-bahn (underground trains), Ferries and some S-bahn (overland trains). It costs around the equivalent to four pounds, and is valid for one day, and is available to buy from the driver on the bus, or from the main U-bahn and bus station ... ...I would recommend, would be to use the U-Bahn to explore the city centre (note, the main city centre stop is actually called the Zoologischer Garten. The main bus station is also located here), then ask at the information kiosk in the bus station for the bus stop to catch a bus to Kladow. Here you can wander around the sleepy village, I can recommend any of the restaurants by the waterside. From here, you can jump on a ferry, which depart every 30 ...

Bus in Berlin Review ofGetting around in Berlinby

Advantages: Easy to use, good service, plenty od luggage space Disadvantages: you may need to speak a minimum amount of german if asking for directions.
The bus system in Berlin is excellent. It is easy to find where you want to go, people are very helpful, and willing to give clear directions if you do get a bit off the beaten track, and the buses in use are very easy to board. There is a large space available for luggage or to stand with buggies. I would advise that anyone travelling to Berlin who is concerned about travelling around the city by bus should not make this a major issue for concern ...

Advantages: not very expensive Disadvantages: drivers mostly speak no english
In Berlin are a super public transport system. Every 5 minutes a bus cames to travell people all over the world through Berlin. A ticet costs 3,90 DM an that's not very expensive. The busses are very new and tall, but not many people use such busses. I don't know why. I think that trains also be new. With the bus you came to all important places, for exemple the "Brandenburger Tor", which is in the middle of Berlin. When you are in Berlin, I would ...

It must be very difficult to write a guidebook. So much information on a city or country to cram into one book small enough to be convenient for tourists. The guidebooks I have read (a fair amount- I like to plan!) tend to either have lots of information more
