What can i say about public transport in brussels? Just one word sums it up - excellent. I stayed in a small village called Grimbergen just outside Brussels, it had its own little bus station with a regular service into Brussels North trains station at least every twenty minutes via the Heysel district which made it ideal for visiting both the city centre and the Atomium. It was also much cheaper than buses in the north of England.
As Brussels is quite a large city with the sights well spread out I used the underground to get around. This was extremely cheap, made getting from one place to another quick and easy and meant that i wasn't too tired to enjoy a good meal and sample one of the excellent Belgium beers in the evening!
I didn't catch a train from Brussels but I have used trains in Belgium, travelling from Antwerp, Brugge, Ostend and Gent.
