It's just one line, but I'm hoping that the city will expand. Unfortunately, the one proposed line I'm really hoping for doesn't seem to stand much of a chance. Funding is critical and that doesn't stand much of a chance, either.

I'm stuck with a bus that goes between the 163rd Street Mall and Downtown Miami. If only I had reason to use it more often. I have to walk at least a mile to get to a bus that goes where I want. Still, we have a bus system. There's plenty of room for improvement there, too. Buses run through Miami Beach every ten minutes, probably because so many hotels are out there. Cabs, like in most American cities, charge through the nose. Expect to pay at least $10 or $20 each way to get anywhere. I don't know how cabs got to be so expensive or if it's this bad in other countries. There ought to be a law.
The only way to get around Miami with any speed is a car. It's a sad fact, but expect to rent. There are no shortages of rental places. You can pick a car up at the airport. I think some of the major hotels also have an arrangement with a rental agency. It would be wise to call ahead for details.
The problem is that Miami is too spread out. Know where you're staying and get maps. You don't want to get lost here.
Miami is so crazy. I could see gangsters all over the place. Taxi are just crazy. There even more in a hurry than in New York. I once got in there and found myself rushcd to choose a place to go. I then told him where to bring me and it was a ride where my nerves where streched to the limits. This man was speeding and dangerous. Maybe I just got the only crazy taxi driver in Miami, but I would
never again take the taxi in Miami. I don't think taxis ...

Advantages: Great beaches, nightlife and shopping Disadvantages: it can be expensive
lovely! It is located in the heart of the art deco district, one block from the beach. We managed to bag a discount and got the rooms for £30 per room per night, and it had a bar, restaurant, and a small pool (a rarity for Miami hotels).
***Cocktails or a cup of hot coco?***
Miami is hot hot hot! Temperatures average at about 75-90 Fahrenheit (25-30 Celsius) year-round. The water is warm, refreshing and clear. Hurricane season is from August to November, and if you are visiting over the summer months, prepare for a short sharp shower in the afternoon, (Florida is the lightning capital of the world!) but this soon passes and it is back to glorious sunshine.
***Getting out and about***
As we do not drive, car hire was out of the question. However, it was extremely easy for us to getaround as we stayed in the heart of the attractions ...

Advantages: Plenty to do, good choice of shops Disadvantages: Difficult to get around
We went on a tour of New York and surrounding areas and decided to visit Miami for a bit of sun. We stayed in the North Beach area and found it pretty easy to getaround with local transport although I would recommend that if you dont have a car to stay in South Beach where all the action is. It takes about 40 minutes by bus to get the South. We were only inMiami for 4 days but did as many of the touristy things as possible. If you have been to Orlando already and visited Seaworld then dont bother visiting Miami Seaquarium, it has similar things to Seaworld animal and show wise but is probably only about an eighth of the size. One trip that I would recommend is going to the Everglades. There are plenty of companies around that will pick up from Hotels.
Miami is also a great place to shop. There is Sawgrass Mills which is one ...
