Paris, je t'aime

Advantages: Great metro service, beautiful city to explore on foot,
Disadvantages: Perhaps more difficult for disabled people, busy busy busy, lots of sellers and beggars, STRIKES

'''BY AIR: -'''One great way of seeing any city is from the air, and it _is_ possible to take helicopter tours over the city. They're pretty pricey though - one quote I found was €250 for adults, €220 for children.

Flying is also a popular way of getting to Paris. Paris has three airports ...
...are a useful way of getting from A to B, particularly with a lot of luggage. Outside the big railway stations, you'll usually find plenty of taxis. Bear in mind that surcharges are often added when four or more people are travelling, or if you're carrying luggage. Taxis aren't cheap and there's always the fear that you might be getting a 'tourist rate' and an unnecessary detour to boot.

Although it's not necessarily the best way to ... more

Dressed in the traditional black waistcoats, dark trousers and white aprons we really felt we had entered a “Cafe Rene” film set Again the ability to quickly relate this to a much loved and familiar TV series gives added interest. We chose simple hot chocolate and cafe au lait, which cost 4.5 Euros, not too bad for central Paris, but it was before 12.00; be warned often prices for hot ...

Cycling in Paris

...not as a way of getting around). Add to this that it's virtually free (if you return the bike to a station within half an hour you pay nothing, after that it's €1 per half hour until it's being held onto for a long time when the price ramps up) and it becomes a very attractive option. There are problems, of course. Stations at the bottom of hills tend to fill up leaving nowhere to park your bike, while those higher up can stand empty. But the terminals ...
...stations are, and exactly how many bikes are currently parked there, or how many spaces are available for you to park. Meanwhile a van with a big trailer shuffles bikes about, and takes damaged bikes to the barge workshop which moves about the Seine. There has been talk of replication of this scheme (albeit on a smaller scale) in London. The Mayor, Ken Livingstone, seems determined on the issue. But it is perhaps a statement on the UK mentality ...

Moving in Paris

Advantages: easy mean to move trough Paris , quick, efficient
Disadvantages: somestimes crowed , doesn't always smell so good

So as to continue my set of opinions about Paris, I’ll talk you about the way to get in and around Paris. To do just like inhabitants, the easiest way is to use public transports. They are really developed In Paris and it’s the cheapest way to move in Paris except if you prefer walking. To travel in Paris you’ll need to buy tickets, the cheapest way is to buy a “ carnet” of ticket, a “carnet” is a pack of ten ticket, it cost 9,30 euros almost ...
...85p. In fact if you stay a while in Paris, you should buy a pass that would allow you to use every public transport as much as you want. Such pass are valid for a week end or a week their price is various according to how long they are valid and how far you are allowed to go with it. Paris region (Paris + suburbs) is divided into 9 zones. Paris is contained in the zone 1, so if you only need to visit Paris zones 1 and 2 would be enough. Several ...

metro rocks

Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: small tickets that get lost easily

like london, paris has its own form of underground transport called the metro. Like the london underground it is relatively easy to navigate and takes you to your destination without fear of overground traffic jams. However, unlike london transport it is more reliable and less packed and on the whole a more enjoyable ride. Some of the trains actually run on tyres so you get less of a bump as well. The one scary thing is when loads of armed gendarme ...

Paris Metro

Advantages: cheap, easy and reliable
Disadvantages: take time to familiarise yourself with the metro

As with any city transport, once you've got used to the Paris Metro, it's really very simple and straightforward. Unlike London, which names its underground lines, Paris underground lines are named after the town or location at the end of the line. So for instance, in London, to travel North on the Northern line, the Paris equivalent would be to get on the Edgware line - i.e. the Northern most point of the Northern Line. To travel south, you'd ...

Only one word of caution: in Paris they have 1st class underground carriages. They are the carriages which have the most graffiti and damage! I booked a trip to Paris, and was impressed that it came with "free upgrade to 1st class metro travel". The carriages are in such a poor state, that I chose to travel standard class! ...

Paris!

Advantages: Sightseeing, transport, attractions
Disadvantages: foreign language

Paris, the capital of France, is certainly defined by many people as a place worth visiting, with countless attractions there is nothing like it!! Whether with the kids, or for a bit of romance there is something to suite everybody. Paris is known well for its romantic setting, which stands by its name. With thousands of restaurants and attractions such as the Eiffel tower, there is always someething to do. Also not too far down the road is Disneyland Paris, which is great for you or the kids and is famous worldwide. Also experience the french culture with their wide range of foods, rated 10 by me personlly. The shopping is also great with cheap products. Transport in Paris is easy enough to get around, with trains, buses almost to everywhere. i would recommend Paris to anybody from any age group. ...

Your Bed...My Liege!

Advantages: Good Location, Comfy Beds, Nice Views on Our Floor
Disadvantages: Crazy Maid Monsters

clean, although in need of a touch up and a bit of modernising in certain places. The location was amazing for ease to getting around Paris, right next to Gare Du Nord station and near various metro lines. There were some lovely buildings in the proximity and we had some lovely views. The room was sufficient and we were happy for the price we paid. The staff were fine and did their jobs well all except Godzilla, although the rooms were cleaned everyday and the beds made and towels re-stocked, I cannot imagine there isn?t another person in the whole of Paris that is qualified to do this job but without the aggression and downright unacceptable way of treating guests. Customer service skills were obviously a trait left out of the ?Big, scary, rude, violent and abusive chambermaid wanted? advert. As I say, looking back it is rather amusing ...

Review of Hotel Paris-Liege, Paris

Eurodisney

Advantages: good value, lots to see in a weekend
Disadvantages: very busy routine for young kids

We went to Disneyland a couple of years ago, the kids had been nagging us into going for some time. Going as part of a weekend coach package allowed us to see the park and do some sightseeing in Paris in a weekend. This worked out a lot cheaper than staying in the park. The first day, Friday was largely spent travelling. 7am depart got to the hotel on the outskirts of Paris at 5pm. That evening the coach left for an evening in Paris, couple of hours to walk around / get something to eat then on for a floodlit trip down the river Siene. Up for an 8am start on Saturday for a full day in the park 9am - 11pm. The park itself is very clean and has a good range of rides and attractions yet the food was poor and the queues often very long. All the staff there seemed to be trying to sell you something, gift, souvenirs, drinks and snacks ...
