Axim Beach has poor customer service.
Advantages: beautiful view Disadvantages: poor customer service and loss of valuable items
Although the beach is beautiful, the customer service we received was disappointing. Our AC did not work and although we said something daily, in the end we were blamed and told that we agreed to being there despite the AC. That was not true. Nothing was done about this accept that we were given a low season rate instead of a high season rate. My daughter's cell phone disappeared there as well as my husbands wallet. So please be careful about leaving ...

A sound environment
Advantages: Relaxing Disadvantages: Mosquitos
I was in Accra Ghana for 6 years from 1985 to 1991. It is the capital. It is a very lively city. Especially where i used to live "Cantonment" which was a few minutes drive from the labadi beach. They have many hotels and amongst them which i remember and are reasonable are the Labadi Beach Hotel and the Golden Tulip Accra Hotel. The people of this country are very honest and loving. Many people from different nationalities have come to settle in ...

Absolutely wonderful
Advantages: Tropical trees, plant species Disadvantages: Only the mosquito's
...wonderful of all was the Aburi Botanical Gardens.
Situated about 2 hours drive from the capital city of Accra.
These gardens were opened in 1890 according to the guide.
The entrance fee is very nominal (about PDS 1.00 - one pound)
These gardens contain an unbelievable amount of species in trees, plants and flowers.
You take the guided tour through these gardens (its actually a Tropical Forest)on special tracks.
They have a wonderful waterfall ... ...the middle of this forest and you can walk right behind it on a special track.
Also one of the attractions is a bridge made only of rope with a plank in the middle about two feet wide. This bridge runs over a river and is suspended about twenty feet over the river and is at least 100 meters long. Its real scary at first but then you overcome it, but make sure you dont look down.
Its very hard to explain but its something like you see in some movies ...

Information for visitors
Advantages: Wonderful beaches, castles, villages Disadvantages: None
Famous for its beautiful palm beaches, fishing villages and historic towns, wood carving industry, castles and forts which were historically the link between West Africa and the Americas on the Slave Trade route.
The region includes the Kakum National Park which is a fascinating nature reserve of untouched rain forest and is home to some rare animals and birds.
As in all parts of Ghana, the people are known for their hospitality and will welcome ... ...the coast.
The important towns and villages are:
-Cape Coast: This is an important trading center and historic town and is the site of the historically famous Cape Coast Castle.
-Winneba: This is a fishing village famous for its interesting pottery and ceramics, various festivals and lovely beaches.
-Elmina: This is another important historical town which should be discovered on foot. Especially worth a visit is the Elmina Castle where the slaves ...

A child's perspective- a life changing episode
Advantages: Incredible, memorable experience Disadvantages: hot, mosquitoes, unreliable electricity and running water
For personal reasons my family decided to go to live in Ghana for afew months when i was seven, my sister five, and my little brothers both one. This may seem like a task in itself, but the experiences our stay there left us with are unforgettable. The people are so hospitable, their way of life so humbling, their attitude to life so refreshing. Of course, there are difficulties. It's baking hot for one thing; lovely in the day, but uncomfortable ... ...no air conditioning. There is rarely a time when the air conditioning and running water works at the same time, mosquitoes are a bother and it is necessary to use mosquito nets. However, despite all this the experiencewas incredible. Kakum rope bridges, Elmina castle, Cape coast, Ambosko Dam and the incredible beaches, pools and safaris are all must sees. For our family it was the holiday of a lifetime ...
