The Girls in The Windows
Advantages: Great Location, Breakfast & Friendly Staff Disadvantages: Itchy Blankets and Thin Walls - Nothing That Bad!
...fruit at breakfast in the Eden and there wasn't much selection, but the bananas were fine by me.) The tea, coffee and orange juice were excellent. LOCATION: After breakfast, we headed out to see what there was to see. The Eden is a stones throw from the historical cobbled centre of Ghent and it was no problem popping back to the hotel for coats and then for dry clothes after we took a 40 minute ride on an open boat in a rainstorm. There are plenty ... ...the corner nearest the Biblioteek seemed to be full of unsavoury customers who glared menacingly at us as we walked past. In order to avoid this, we walked round the back way.... Directly behind the hotel is the heart of Ghent's red light district. I can never resist shopping on holiday and glancing at a dress, on what my subconscious mind believed was a mannequin in a shop window, I jumped. The girls jiggle in front of the windows all day and night, ...

Horrible experience
Advantages: Not much, breakfast, location Disadvantages: staff, rooms
This hotel is terrible! I got a room on the ground floor. It was at least 30°C and the air condition did not work. Moreover, there was only one window which gave you a view into the storeroom! So no fresh air at all!
As I told the receptionist that the air condition did not work, she did not believe me and told me that this is not true. Can you imagine! The next problem was when I wanted to check out. The receptionist could not add the tax number ... ...with the credit card I wanted to. Finally, she did not even want to give me a confirmation that I paid. I never met such a rude and incompetent staff! Moreover, usually you have to wait that she comes to the reception as she was smoking in the breakfast room. The behaviour is unforgivable for this price. Generally, except of the bathrooms, the whole hotel has to be renovated. The floor creaks at each step, the furniture is old, and the wallpapers ...

HOLIDAY INN - GHENT
Advantages: clean, tidy, good service and price Disadvantages: need a taxi to get into town
...have stayed at the Ghent Holiday Inn. The price of each trip was £99 inclusive of bus travel, ferry crossing and two nights accomodation at the Holiday Inn.
LOCATION
+++++++++
The Holiday Inn Ghent is around 60km from Brussels and is situated in central Belgium which makes it ideal to explore the country. It is near the intersection of the E17 and E40 motorways.
It is 65km from Ostend airport in Holland and 62km from Antwerp airport .
On the ... ...This review is about the Holiday Inn, but I am going to write a little about the town as well.
Our coach dropped us into Gent and we then got a tram and a bus back to the hotel later. Public transport is very good in Belgium and Gent is no exception.
There is a lovely selection of shops in Gent. We found a £1 type shop (except its Euros over there!). There is a lovely shop that sells home furnishings and Christmas decorations. Foodwise, you must ...

Would you Adam and Eve it?
Advantages: Friendly, comfortable and good buffet breakfast. Disadvantages: Limited parking and looks awful from the front.
...IS IT?
The Hotel Eden can be found five minutes walk from the centre of the East Flanders town of Ghent. It is just around the corner from a tram and bus stop, where you can get a tram to the train station (in one direction), or into the centre of Ghent (in the other direction) if you are less mobile. It is on quite a busy road in an area with quite a few shops, making the walk to the tourist attractions (the cathedral is only a short stroll south ... ...The Hotel Eden is NOT suitable for anyone who can't cope with lots of stairs! There is a lift but it isn't very big and there are a few steps between the various levels that I'm not sure the lift would cover. Once you have climbed the stairs with luggage in hand you are at the Reception desk ~ a lovely area with some rather nice wood paneling.
~~~CHECK IN & OUT.
Because our rooms were booked for us by the friend organizing the trip I will have ...
Good location, Good service
Advantages: Very comfortable hotel, good bar Disadvantages: Need a car or taxi to go into the city centre
...Belgium I stopped at the Holiday Inn in Gent. It was not the first time I have stopped there and probably will not be the last. As I have written in my reviews of Gent and Bruges this is a nice part of Belgium to visit and I am lucky to be able to go there on business.
The hotel is modern and could not be called beautiful. It is though very comfortable and used by both business guests and tourists alike. It is very handy for those who like me drive ... ...the E40 motorway which runs from the ports to Brussels and also the E17 which heads North towards Antwerp. However this close proximity to the motorway means it is not that handy for the town centre. There were some disappointed coach passengers who found they could not feasibly walk into the town from the hotel and had to get a taxi. This though would only be about £3 each way so not excessive but obviously more than the cost of a walk.
There is ...
