We first went to the Ghurkha restaurant because my husband and I were searching for a place to go for my best friend's birthday. We wanted somewhere that offered all you could eat and there are a few to choose from in Blackpool. I had sampled one or two but, when I came across the Ghurkha restaurant on the internet when performing a Google search I thought it looked good enough to try.

I obviously felt a little sceptical when we reading about the Ghurkha restaurant as I do with any new place I'd go to eat. I have a sensitive stomach and I didn't want to become ill from eating the food there, but I thought I would give it a try. It definitely looked interesting with all the different types of food offered. I felt a little sceptical and unsure that it was good enough for a party so I thought I'd try before we invited a party to eat there. It was also a good excuse for my husband and me to get some quality time together.

The Ghurkha restaurant is positioned underneath the hotel Alpine which I thought was quite unusual as hotel restaurants go you usually find the run of the mill. The Ghurkha restaurant could certainly not be described as run of the mill it is quite unlike anything I have tried before even all you can eat buffets. You will often find guests of the hotel dining there, but it is also open to none hotel guests. I must admit the thought of it being attached to a hotel made me a little wary as I didn't want to wander in off the streets and find myself amidst all the hotel guests looking at me as though I shouldn't be there. However the good thing is the restaurant has a separate opening and you don't even have to enter the hotel to reach the inside of the restaurant.

The restaurant is is located within a short walk of the Promenade, Pleasure Beach, Sandcastle, and Grosvenor Casino. It is quite an easy location to find and is in a part of Blackpool known as South Shore. If you are coming to Blackpool for a holiday you might like to combine a visit to the Pleasure Beach then afterwards follow on with a meal in the Ghurkha restaurant if you don't feel too sick with all the rides. Families are welcome with children of all ages, couples, senior citizens, business travelers, conference delegates and indeed anyone with a big appetite. When I stepped inside the restaurant I felt a warm buzz about the place. As I looked around the room it wasn't spectacular the décor wasn't marvellous but, there was a nice friendly atmosphere. The décor actually looked a bit dull from what I remember there was mostly greens and it could have done with more than 1 lick of paint.

When we first arrived we sat at the table waiting for the waiter for about 10 minutes before a couple next to us told us we should help ourselves to the buffet. We were a bit annoyed that none of them had approached us for drinks orders and at the time we felt like walking out, but I am glad we didn't because we would have missed out.

The buffet is very impressive with 25-35 dishes to choose from out of a total of 150 options. Although the restaurant is Nepalese, it also has Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Indian, Singaporean and English dishes. The Ghurkha Buffet is open for lunch and dinner every day and you can eat as much as you like from starters, soups, salads and mains for as little as £8.95. The food is always hot and wholesome. There are some foods I wouldn't have eaten, but you can pick and choose from the one's you don't fancy to the one's you love there is something for everyone's tastes.

You basically serve yourself and don't feel under any pressure like you sometimes can in other restaurants choosing how many times you should go back or how much you should have on your plate. In fact the waiter's encourage you to eat and there are no people watching you filling your plate like you can get in some restaurants. I didn't feel like I had lots of eyes watching how much I ate and so I felt relaxed to enjoy the food. The food is delicious always hot, tasty and filling. With plenty to choose from the price is a bargain compared with what you'd usually pay if you were to eat that much in any other restaurant. It is definitely a treat and somewhere I would recommend visiting in Blackpool. If you haven't been there then you are missing out. After you have filled yourself you could go to the bar next door and have a drink the bar has Karaoke nights as well. Compared with other eat all you can places in Blackpool the Ghurkha bar definitely beats the lot.

The staff are very attentive and are there if you need any help choosing what dishes to have. The staff are eager to please and I got the feeling that they wanted you to walk out happy. I know that I certainly did and for that reason I would have no hesitation to recommend anyone else to this restaurant. If you go early enough then you should be able to get a table quite easily but, it does fill up as the night progresses. If you are vegetarian there are quite a number of dishes you can choose from so you will not lose out. The drinks are a bit on the high price, but they tend to make their money here. If you think about it when you are eating you need a lot to drink to help digest food, but considering the food prices are so low it's a snip to pay and if you consider going somewhere else like a nightclub it is definitely a cheaper alternative. In my opinion it's also a nicer alternative there are never any fights or arguments in the Ghurkha bar it is very peaceful and relaxed. We got chatting to the couple on the next table to us and they told us that they had been visiting the Ghurkha bar for quite some time and how much they always enjoyed it. They also helped us choose what dishes were nice and showed us how to pile our plates high.

As soon as you go and get another plate full of food the waiter's come and clear your table and they are very attentive like this which is a good element. If you want something a bit different and fancy trying some alternative dishes then you won't go far wrong with the Ghurkha bar. If you live in Blackpool and have never visited the Ghurkha bar then why not give it a try and if you are visiting Blackpool and want somewhere nice to eat then I recommend you try the Ghurkha bar. They also cater for parties and business meetings.
