I find there staff very friendly helpful people. But more important than that, they act happy .....I cannot remember when I saw a BA staff member smile last.

Im glad to say that the thing that put me off flying with the company has now been changed.I use to hate flying on some of there smaller flying box kind of aircrafts.Mainly they were slow, very noisey and scary to fly on if it was windy. Now they have ditched there smaller planes they operate larger ATR turbo props which are a lot nicer and spacious and also new Fokker 100 jets on the Paris route. The ATRS have two rows of two seats, with decent legroom for a short journey. Snacks are provided on route, with a complimentary drink of your choice.
Gillair have started a freqent flyer card, but at the moment is best descibed as a joke as rewards are thin on the ground. The points are added on the plane with what looks like a hand piece taken from the scan your won system at Safeways. I only hope this card rewards will grow better with time.
Apart from the Paris route, the fares are very cheap.I paided only £59 incl tax to fly to Dublin last week by booking ahead. Most of the fares are cheap if you can plan ahead and fix your times.I made a mistake with a date on a non changeable or refundable ticket, but Gill changed it over with no problems for the correct date, and didnot even charge me.Thats customer service for you.

The only thing I wish is that Gill could service more routes out of Newcaslte.I know I like to pay £99 including tax for a working day return to Stansted, where as lovely BA to Gatwick and Heathorw charge a minimum of £300 quid even if I book six months ahead.
Advantages: Cheap, friendly Disadvantages: Small aircraft
I flew with Gill Airways for the first time in around 6 months the other day and had forgotten how welcoming and accommodating their staff are compared to the likes of BA and bmi. Nothing appears to be too much trouble and they certainly appear to value your custom rather than the other 2 who seem to feel that passengers are an inconvenience.
I have flown many times between Newcastle and Belfast and would use Gill over BA every time. Not being based ... ...had his first flight with Gill and the hostess was extremely pleasant. Even though the plane was very busy as BA had cancelled their flight with absolutely no explanation offered to their passengers. Many were disgruntled as they didn't get a meal when they would have done with BA; however, in a little over 35 minutes what do you expect. I sat smug as I'd paid a lot less for my ticket (£39) and never expected a meal. ...

Advantages: Cheap, reliable Disadvantages: Not for the nervouis flyer
...to Belfast City airport with Gill Air. However the flights are cheap, and relatively painless. For a 40 minute flight you don't need pampering, and indeed you aren't. The flights are on time, you don't need to worry that they'll lose your baggage, and although this isn't the comfortable option it sure as hell beats a choppy crossing on the boat from Stranraer.
It is a basic service, and they make no bones about this fact, but it is reliable and ...

Advantages: Good locations Disadvantages: Gone Bust
Just noticed this one, would agree with the comments, but Gill, based at Newcastle went bust - a couple of years ago now. Routes taken over by Eastern Airways, for Aberdeen, Brum and Southampton, and Fly be _ I think - for Belfast. Look like the same wee planes, but rather pricey £290 to Southampton and similar to Brum. Fly be on the other hand have the few pounds flights still, if you want to fly to Belfast. I believe the guy behind Eastern Airways ...
